Bonsai new beta v4.1.1

I have to say, I was not a fan of Bonsai 4.0.1. Just didn't do anything for me at all. I loved SFR, and Pauls ACE was very stable as well. But geeze is this new Bonsai stable. I am in love with this. I keep thinking "I want to keep tinkering with my phone" but I just cant see any reason why I should. Battery life is good, everything works, I like the new CWM. This sucker just rocks. Now on to learning to theme!

v4.0.1 has been my daily driver since its release and I have had no problems with it. I will update to 4.1 when the official release comes out but I am in no hurry at the moment. It is good to have a ROM like Bonsai that you can depend on. That is until Gingerbread is released and we begin round 3. Unless Netflix gets up and running on 2.2, I will have to jump to stock 2.3 immediately to get my Netflix on.

Is there a version of the standard Touchwiz that works with this ROM? Having that modified version of TW is one of the biggest reason I haven't stay with Bonsai for more then a few hours.

I downloaded an apk of TW3.0 which I think is the standard. It runs good on this ROM but I think ADW ex runs better. I'll try to find the link again.

Just wondering if flashing the EE03 Gingerbread modem would make sense or if it would work on Bonsai.
Any ideas or am I nuts to even consider this?

It will work and probably improve your 4g coverage. That seems to be the plus so far to the EE03 modem is better 4g.

"donation required" got to love these "donation" things. why they dont just call it as it is "you need to buy it" is beyond me...

Sorry you don't understand this concept.

We've really just looked for ways that we can give something to the people that are good enough to support the over 100 hours a week that I alone spend working on the Bonsai project. Not counting Mammon's time or the many volunteers that help us make Bonsai successful. We've got a great base of users who have made donations and are willing to run these pre-releases to help make it a better ROM for other users of Bonsai.

But as of yesterday, Bonsai v4.1.1 is free for you to use as we have made the general release. I hope you enjoy it.

Oh ya, sorry I didn't report back on that... I was wrong, hehe.. I figured I opened my mouth and would be inserting my foot..

Once this new CWM 3.0.2.8 is installed on your phone flashing another ROM (CWM 3.0.0.6) will not replace it.. I flashed ACE and when I went back into CWM it was still CWM 3.0.2.8.

Basically Randy/Mammon installed a new CWM recovery into our devices and its fresh code that isn't in place in our installation script on any of the other ROMs.

I would think running OneClickRoot EXT4 would probably revert it back to the old CWM 3.0.0.6, not positive but I think it would. Really, I'm not worried because the new CWM is functioning fine and I have a feeling it will be used as the new CWM in the next round of new ROMs once Randy and Mammon go public with it.

You are correct to assume that running OneClickRoot will overwrite the CWM that we are providing in Bonsai.

Any other ROM install that also updates the recovery kernel would overwrite it, but not many do.

We have a lot of plans for the CWM fork we have made and made the source available for what we have done so far available several weeks ago. Still lots of room for improvement there.

I can't really see them having to change anything with the official release other than adding in the b35 kernel. I saw there are a few people having a couple flashing issues but otherwise I really believe they got it together, I'm actually excited for this as its been the most stable EC05 ROM I've ran to date.

Thanks Paul,

I think we even managed to make a few more improvements since you made this post. Will be anxious to read the feedback on this general release.

@Randy T,

Thanks for the support on my posts. Seems like I was answering everything correctly so for that I'm pleased. I may actually have to revert back to EC05 just to run the finished version to see how things turned out but from my experience on the Beta it was running perfectly fine so I expect much of the same.

Good job to you and Mammon.
