Bonsai v4.1.1 General Release now available

I never really got a good lock until the official Froyo release. At that point I was seeing 3-meter lock in my driveway. The best I can get now is 8-meter lock and the accuracy seems to fluctuate i.e. it will jump up to 30-meter accuracy one second, then down to 8 the next, etc. So it works, but not as good as it was. I guess i'll try to Odin stock and try it all over again.

EDIT: After running this ROM for about a week it appears all of my GPS problems have disappeared. I've been getting consistent locks and using navigation is stronger then ever. I'm not sure what I did to fix it. It may have had to do with using GPS Status, or calibrating my phone with the Compass app... Either way, I'm loving Bonzai! Thank you!!

I also want to thank the Bonsai team for their work. This ROM is very solid and I'm liking the Zeam launcher. A couple of questions: Can the new CWM 3.0.2.5 be flashed on top of this? Also would there be any advantage to using the EE03 modem?

Yes I believe you can run the CWM 3.0.2.5 installer over this but I see no reason why. This new CWM that is customized by Bonsai provides the same benefits as CWM 3.0.2.5 meaning it will run both RFS/EXT4 installations.

I do need to look into the code in the updater-script that handles this but that is where the actual work is being done is by what the ROM devs have put into the installation script telling CWM which format of filesystem to use.

As Paul says, there really is no reason to flash back to a CWM 3.0.2.5. All features from 3.0.2.5 are in the Bonsai modified version plus a number of bugs fixed.

Regarding modems, some people are reporting improved performance, especially on 4G, with the EE03 modem. Just bear in mind that you are going off the ranch a bit with EE03 since it is not an official release, so you may have to do awkward things like flash back to known versions so we can properly handle upgrades for you in future releases.

bonsai 4.1.1 problems

i really love how smooth this rom runs overall, but its becoming a daily thing where it will crash and completely freeze up as im typing a text, the phone becomes completely unresponsive, so i have to end up pulling the battery out and re-install the rom or else it says something about email, messaging, force close everytime. anyone knows why this is happening or a fix for it?

The only issue I have with this rom is while texting sometimes it freezes. The only way I can get it back is removing the battery. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Same issue here when texting. I enabled journaling to cut down on the corruption a battery pull can cause. I have performed a factory reset and reflash, but the freezing continues. I am going to be forced to go to another rom looks like. I hate that because I have loved the Bonsai releases, but this one isn't working for me.

No issues texting here. I use Handcent, not sure if that makes a difference.

I have the same problems force close phone, text message, internet, youtube app and google mail.

I just upgraded my wife's phone to Bonsai and she is loving it so far. We were getting force closes at first with messaging and email and swype. I restored my programs from back-up with Titanium, rebooted and haven't had any problems with that since. On the installation instructions, it says it will back-up and move \data, but I think if you were coming from a different version, such as Gingerbread, the software wasn't restored correctly to this version. If you have back-ups, try that. It worked for me!

I am running it with journaling off. I believe I have corrupted data. I just wiped everything (data,cache) and it is running better. Thank you

Its not a terrible rom. Its probably user error. I've been running g this rom for a long time. On o e of the testers for bonsai rom and its the best ec05 rom available.

if you cant live large, look big in the coffin!!!

Zack can you tell me what you did for installation? Did you restore old data or anything using Titanium Backup or MyBackup Root?

I have to agree with others, this has got to be the most stable build EC05 to date. Mammon and Randy T and all the testers really did a great job working all the bugs out of this build. I ran the beta personally for about 2 weeks no trouble, now on the official build since release no problems.

Maybe you should reconsider giving it another shot, start with a clean slate using Odin to EB13 and then use the Bonsai master key to root and the flash the ROM. Don't use any previous backups or restores and you should be in good shape.

Just an update on this. We are seeing more hangs than normal during text entry. We believe we may have figured out a cause and are in early test of a v4.1.2 kernel update. So far so good. Stay tuned.

I cleared both caches from clockwork and also fixed permissions there and it hasn't locked up since. Very smooth. However, I just downloaded youtube and it won't work at all. I'll try the same fix.

Well that worked. Youtube is fine now, but it just locked up while I was using the calculator.
