Box says “type password to decrypt storage”

From other posts here it seems the only way around this is to do a factory reset. How do you do that if it won’t let me past the password screen?? Someone also suggested removing SIM card but I can’t see where to even open the box to find the SIM card and there is no slot on mine

You (or someone else) must've created an encryption password during initial setup (or sometime thereafter). That's the password you need to use to unlock the tablet now. There's no other way to unlock the tablet.

I started to download the app, but I changed my mind and closed it, I thought that was it until the next day. Is there anything I can do, because the download didn't get as far as entering a password.

Which app were you trying to download? How did you get to the point of downloading an app without knowing the password you need to unlock the device's storage?

I don't remember everything it said, but something about for added security you should download this app, I started to download and thought better of it, I stopped it, it prompted me "are you sure", I tapped yes, and turned off my tablet, now it wants a password.

I had the same problem. I rebooted to recovery mode and wiped the cache and that worked for me.
