Hi,

I've just moved from sony sw3 to Huawei watch. Linked the watch with phone fine. Emails, messages, notifications etc. are working fine. But am unable to get the voice commands work. "ok google" works fine, but that's it. Anything else, the watch tries to interpret, keep on retrying and eventually says it's offline.

When I'm on wifi, it tries 3-4 times and eventually it does work at times. But the whole experience is very poor.

Any suggestion on what I might be missing?

Regards,

Kaushal

Have you already tried a factory reset? Also, is the phone's firmware up to date?

Do you have it paired to an iphone? I get the same most times i give it voice commands . On my galaxy S7 it worked fine

Yes, I've already tried factory reset. My phone is HTC One M7, firmware all up to date. I previously had Sony SW3, which was working absolutely fine with the same phone.

I also tried unpairing sony SW3, doing factory reset on Huawei watch and repairing it with my phone. Still the same behaviour :(

No, I haven't paired it to iPhone. I've paired it with HTC One M7, which is an android phone. Previously my Sony SW3 was paired with the phone, and I never faced this issue with it. That's why I'm surprised how come such a basic function is failing to work.

Are you using the regular Google app or the beta version on your phone?

Regular google app version 6.7.21.21.arm. I wasn't even aware there was a beta version of google app. I've tried clearing cache and data on google app as well, which hasn't helped. Have done unpair and factory reset on watch 3 times now, issue persists.

Although it's not the ideal solution, you could see if the beta Google app works better. Open the Play Store, search for the Google app, and then see if you have an option to join the beta program. I have it, and it's nice -- you get some of the new features sooner, and so far I haven't had any noticeable bugs.

Thanks, will give it a shot. For this issue, I was in touch with Huawei product support. The guy helped me figure out that I had background mobile data restricted for "google app" on my phone. That's what was causing the issue. Removing this flag resolved the problem.
