Business Name vs person's name

I looked for an answer for this. No luck, so here goes...

If I have an entry with "ABC Plumbing", the listing shows as ABC Plumbing. However, if I add a contact name, Bob Jones, as the person at ABC Plumbing, the contact name changes to Bob Jones. I can't even find the contact card for "ABC Plumbing" by searching. However, if I pull up "Bob Jones", I see ABC Plumbing as the Organization name.

I don't care which displays in the listing, but it would be nice to be able to search a contact card by organization name or person name.

Any advice on how to do that? Thanks in advance.

when you add the person's name, the contact card becomes that person, no longer the organization.

if you want to separate them out, i would add ABC as the first name and Plumbing as the last name. or just ABC Plumbing as the first name.

hope that helps a little.

Yeah, but you would think that there would be a "standard search" aspect that would check the company name field as well. Haven't found it yet, though.

It's a known issue with Android 2.1 that the contact search is a little quirky. I haven't had a chance to load FroYo on my Nexus so i can't say if that is fixed.

i added the android search widget to the home screen and tried typing in the company name, and it found contacts within that company.

At this point, I think it's a foregone conclusion that 2.1 doesn't do what I'm asking about. All I need to hear is whether 2.2 does.

C'mooooooon FroYo!
