But WHY do you choose your resolution?

There is a definite difference between 1080 and 4k on a tv. In the case of this phone, most people can't tell the difference between the medium and high settings so we chose better battery life over "I'm telling myself I have the best resolution even though I can't see it". No offense to anyone that chooses it. I think that's just the way us mid-levelers feel.

I promise if you change the resolution and go a week you won't notice any hit to your battery so not sure where you are getting that idea from :P.

I'll try it when I get home from vacation and back to my normal work shifts. I know real world use tests are king and my battery has been great, but I'd still love to see some actual tests on this.

I just know from the past. Many have tested in the past and there is no difference. People just assume lesser resolution = less battery but in reality it doesn't make a difference on the Galaxy phones.

Again, why buy a flagship just to dumb it down.

A lot of my family and friends say that's why they hate android and prefer iPhone because you need to turn off all the features to get great battery life.

It's someone what true but I also have an XS and there are some features I turn off same with android but the DISPLAY will never be touched.

Can I tell the difference, yes because I'm so used to it.

It's like someone buying an Audi RS5 and turning on ECO* mode. LOL *I don't even know of OS really an option.

I use FHD because of better battery life and also can’t tell difference between that and WQHD.

However, in that case I have to also say that you don’t have to turn off great features to get good battery life on most Android phones for a few years now, it just makes already good battery life better...unlike iPhones which have always had mediocre battery life until very recently.

So in that case unfortunately your family and friends are wrong when it comes to Android vs iOS battery life. Using that argument (which is deeply flawed) to justify sticking to iPhone over Android just doesn’t make sense.

I've been using WQHD for a couple weeks now and battery life is good. On FHD+ things can become a little fuzzy and blurry (but not so much) for my sight, while on WQHD the display looks razor sharp. I'll keep using WQHD unless there's some other "advantages" on FHD+ that we may find out later.

I hear a lot of people say they leave their screens at the factory default FHD+ and others that go WQHD+ just because they can. I suppose a lot of people stay at FHD+ because they don't know to change it. WHY do you choose what you do? Can you really tell the difference? Is there a benefit to FHD+ ? Let's hear it.

I always use WQHD+ because first of all i paid for the phone.and second of all the battery life isnt a big difference....and home icons look sharper(Nova Launcher + Supreme Icon Pack)

@chanchan05 I made an account on this site just to thank you for bringing clarity and factual information to this discussion. I had no idea this is how the screen works, and judging by other comments, neither did anyone else. Then again, the subsequent comments seem similarly unenlightened...

HD+ because text is better. I use to always use Max resolution and tried HD for a few weeks to test and check it out. I'm over 70 and have eyesight issues.
In part to see if AMOLED vs OLED and eyestrain reports by people.

I buy one or two Samsung phones a year, first year I skipped on Note. A new iPhone every other, iPhone 11. Samsung can't compare to iPhone on battery.
Use to see drop of near 10% in an hour going through catching up on news etc nothing heavy and uploading updating photo albums.

Did any read about a new study that "proves" that the blue light filter is "WORSE" for your eyesight?

I always hear people say that, but they always end up having to charge their iPhone before I ever charge my galaxy lol...

I see no difference. I'm sure it's there but I don't notice it so might as well keep it FHD+ and preserve battery

I thought mine was on WQHD and just looked and noticed it was on FHD+. I changed it and will see how much it affects my battery.
