Buttons/mini controller not showing up in video player

Hello, I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 and the default (stock) video player app is giving me some problems. A few days ago the video player stopped displaying the mini controller (play/pause, rewind, forward) at the bottom of the screen and I can no longer swipe to control volume or brightness like I used to. It does this for all types of videos, whether they are my own or ones streaming from the internet. How can I get this feature back? I'm not sure what I did to make it go away!

Welcome to Android Central! Go to the App Manager, look for the Video app, and try Clear Cache/Clear Data.

If that doesn't help, try wiping the cache partition: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10404

I'm having the same problem. I tried clearing the partition cache and did it, but the problem still continues
