Buying my Tab tomorrow. What apps do I need?

I'm ordering my wifi Galaxy Tab tomorrow. I'll be tethering it to my Palm Pre whenever I'm out and about. As a webOS user venturing into Android, what apps would you recommend? I've used Preware and webOSQuickInstall to patch the hell out of my Pre so I think I'd be comfortable modifying the Tab as necessary. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android!

Where to begin, in no particular order:
1) Tweetdeck. if you're a twitter fanboy, Plume works well, too, especially for widgets.
2) Angry birds, of course. Orginal, Rio, Seasons.
3) Opera Mobile 11 or Dolphin HD for a replacement browser. Try both to see which you prefer.
4) Amazon Appstore for the free daily(usually piad) app--good stuff on there daily.. ie. fruit ninja, angry birds rio, swift key
4)Chrome-to-phone. you'll need an extension on your desktop to use this, but it's really nice when you want to send a link or file to your phone right from your desktop/laptop browser.
5)Pulse. VERY nice RSS feed. PLENTY of sites to choose from + you can add your own if it isn't included.
6)xda-app/tapatalk. Makes forum reading very easy :)

Many, many more.. Remember that you can browse apps from the comfort of your desktop browser by visiting market.android.com.

I'm not sure what the situation will be for custom roms, but, if possible, be sure to root and get voodoo sound installed. Night/day difference!

Good luck!

Oh, I'm not sure if you're into podcasts, but DoggCatcher is a very nice app. Best I've used :) Very stable.

Thanks for the tips! I definitely use Twitter so I'll try TweetDeck for sure. I use Neato! a lot on my Pre so I'll certainly be looking into Chrome-to-phone as well. Any other suggestions for an Android newbie?

Wave launch
Document to go
Firefox or opera mobile
Songbird
Lightning bug
Tv shows

An eBook Reader: Amazon Kindle (i like) or B&N Nook (wife likes)
For the I.T. User: Pocket Cloud VNC/RDP
Office Document Editor: QuickOffice
A game to show off your new toy: Dungeon Defenders or Angry Birds
For the sports fanatic: Official Sports Illustrated App
A good backup app: Titanium Backup (you'll need root)

Oh, and a better than stock web browser: Firefox Mobile

Well damn...Got my Tab in today from Tiger Direct and the thing won't power on. It doesn't even indicate its been plugged in at all. Shipping it back and having another overnighted to me. At least they refunding any shipping charges to me and I should just have to wait until tomorrow...but damn. Was all excited to try it out tonight. Drat!

Yeah I guess they just wanted to build suspense for the moment. :)

Hopefully tomorrow I can check in with a working item.

got my *working* tab today and i'm liking it a lot so far. have tried out some of the apps suggested. had to grab evernote since thats what i use on my pre and am liking the browser options. thanks all! i'm sure i'll have more questions as i use it more.

I'm not trying to hijack the thread but is anyone else having issues locating ADW Launcher & LauncherPro in the market? I can't seem to find it when I search and I can't even get to either through AppBrain.

I can find ADW and LP on a Sprint Tab but not the Wifi-only version :(

Wow...really? Want the apk file? I have it on my SD card

Thanks but I actually downloaded OpenHome and I like it so far. I can even change the icons using the ones from ADW themes :)
