Edit: solved this, it is Android accessibility permissions from 3rd party apps.

I downloaded the bxactions bixby button remapper. It was the only application i download that requires specific permissions in the settings. After setting it up, i restarted my phone about an hour afterwards and my secure start up didnt require my pin to boot the phone up. I went into setting and it had been turned off. This was the only app i had installed yesterday. I emailed the developer and notified google. In no way should this app be able to do disable anything security related.

Re: Beware-BxActions questionable activity

It wasn't the app. This has been a bug recently. Not sure what prompts it or how It happens but it's not that app. The special permissions are needed because you are changing hardware and accessibility options when remapping the Bixby button.

So unless you get confirmation from the dev that the app does do that, then I'd probably change the title of your post to something a little less incriminating since, you know, lack of proof?

Samsung is about to send out an update so you can disable the Bixby button. I certainly will use Bixby a lot however just for manipulating actions within my phone. I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos and look forward to setting up custom actions on Bixby.

Just for reference I downloaded the app again set it up restarted my phone and guess what. My secure lock setting is disabled and my phone started right up with out my pin code. Tell me how I don't have any evidence again.

What custom actions did you have in mind?

Mine boots into the pin entry screen just fine with bxactions installed. So I don't see your evidence as convincing. You need establish that no other factors can be causing this.

Well when I install this app and set it up. My secure pin is disabled. As soon as I delete the app and turn on secure start again. It stays on, please explain how this only happens after this app is installed and set up. It is the app that causing this to happen. It's a bug in the app, I have let the developer know. Also news flash not everyone who has this app will always experience the same bug. There are plenty of bugs people have experienced that I have never experienced and that doesn't make there experience any less convincing.

I'm not saying in any way that your aren't experiencing that. But perhaps it's somehow interacting with a particular app or setting. So far no one else had complained of this. So we don't know what the actual cause is at this point nor can we say that the problem is due to an actual big or not. It's certainly something that should be looked at. But your making conclusions without any specific proof.

I can 100% of the time recreate this issue when installing this app and setting it up. I fail to see how this isn't proof, it clearly the app doing it. Whether it's is doing because of something else I have installed I do not know but the app itself is cause this to happen. That is why I have emailed the developer if they ever get back to me I will gladly pull a logcat so that they can go through and figure why this is happening when I install this app.

Also having spent a fair amount of time using custom ROMs by some devs on xda. I can assure you it is 100% possible for one person to experience a bug no one else has. This is clearly based on how their phone is set up and the apps they are using. I will patiently wait to see if the developer ever emails me back.

I don't disagree. My point is that you can't say bxactions is the cause of the problem until you can understand why the problem is occurring.

Well out of the 100+ apps on my phone. This only happens after this app is installed and set up. Please explain to me how this app isn't causing this problem. No other app I have downloaded since this happened has cause this to happen. The problem is occurring because of this application, and I can say this app is causing it all I want. You know why, its only happens when this app is installed and it's stops when the app is deleted. Let me repeat that again this only happens when this app is installed and it's stops doing it when it's deleted. Head over to xda and read theougu the 37 pages of post about people having issues with this application.

Re: Beware-BxActions questionable activity

No one is saying you are not having issues. And no one is saying it's not related to this app. But it's entirely possible that it happens under certain conditions. But without knowing the root cause you can't pin it on this app. It can just add easily be another app that sets the stage for this. I'm not suggesting it can't be this app either. There just aren't any answers until the root of the problem is discovered. And we certainly can't say that there is any malicious intent without that either.

And to be fair.... without 100% certainty you can't say it is NOT the app.

So for the sake of the forum let's just say he has done his home work and it could be the app. You seem to dismiss stuff using the "well it isn't 100%" idea but yet yours is in the same boat so....

Hence the discussion occurring on the forums :).

Have you gotten any response from the devs yet? I'd be curious to see what they have to say

Re: Beware-BxActions questionable activity

Ehh not going to play semantics. We know what was being implied and I am pretty sure you know what I meant.

I made zero implications or assumptions. I was clear in saying we don't know where the problem is. The OP assumes there was some kind of malicious intent in the title and that this app was to blame without enough proof the be certain of that. This was my only issue all along. Find any part of my posts that say otherwise. 🙄
