calender app crashes

When I try to launch the calender app it closes with a message `calender has closed'
Is this a common problem and how do i clear this

Is there a better calender app then the stock app

I use business calendar. Used it for years great options and great widgets.

Google calendar works well for me in keeping my schedule across four devices.
