Camera Issues with Oxygen 5.1.5 Update?

In the OnePlus Community app I'm seeing several complaints about the camera quality and performance after the latest update.. Specifically of "oil painting effect" and lag when taking HDR pics. Has anyone here experienced this? I'm scared to update my 5T now because of this. I don't want camera issues.

I think whatt you will find is that most of the complaints are "much ado about nothing". The oil painting effect was fixed in a couple of updates ago if I remember correctly. I am on Open Beta and it has been fixed for quite awhile.

If you update and are dissatisfied, you can always revert back to an older build. All the instructions are on the OnePlus website.

What about lag when shooting in HDR? That's the other complaint I see.
None here as well. Personally, I would jump on the OnePlus 6 or wait a few months a grab the 6T when it comes out. The OnePlus is really a nice device. A developer friend of mine has the 5T like me, but he also still rocks his OnePlus One. He says it still performs amazingly well.

I just got this one so I'm not getting the 6. I'm asking these questions because I don't want issues if I download the update and I don't want to revert to an older build.

I can understand that you don't want to revert back. I suspect a new build is coming out this week that is supposed to address the concerns / issues you mentioned.

Since I am on the Beta, you can figure I am one willing to take a risk. The builds for OnePlus that are the stable ones are very good. Only a few people really have issues. You have to realize that reading about complaints in the forums can make you think an issue is bigger than it is. The forums tend to magnify an issue.

As in all things tech, issues can appear. Nothing is guaranteed. But to not update out of fear of what might happen means you will never update. Just realize that what you fear is not systemic. It is not widespread.
