camera issues

A low-light picture works fine....When you are trying to focus, or introduce higher lumens than the surrounding area that will also be in the picture, you will have a problem. The picture taken with your S3 has more light sources in it than the one taken by the One so yes, it will look much better. Take 2 pics, one with each phone, of the moon tonight with a building on the horizon and the One's picture will look better.

Edit: Where were you at with those pics? PR?

Actually I had more light with the HTC picture.

It's just that without flash they are very noisy.

I live in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. That's where I took the pictures.

Let's not start attacking the mods now... Come on.

As for the camera issue, and excuse me if this was already brought up, but OP, what camera mode/settings were you using?

Not to continue to be off-topic, but I know that a not-so-polite comment directed TO halizdad was removed as well. I don't believe the mod is being biased, and left the "smart a**" comment from the OP because in it she also further detailed some of her issues with the phone camera.

She's just asking for help with settings. If anyone has successfully utilized their phone camera in a concert venue and would like to share settings, that would likely be helpful. I'm not the OP but I'd appreciate that as well. And yes, if/when she posts pictures she took, that can help narrow down issues. For anyone who doesn't understand 'the point' of these threads, there's a difference between saying, "omg I hate this phone's camera and I'm switching," and saying, "I'm so frustrated with my experience with this camera that I'm considering switching, can anyone help or provide suggestions?" I know there's been quite a few threads lately along the lines of the first example but I read this as the latter. And the point is to ask for help. She just mentioned a competitor's product while doing so, and I guess that brings out the flaming.

But yes, OP, if you can remember at all what settings you were using if/when you upload images, that'll help as well. I'm sorry that even in better lit conditions you're not getting good shots. If I have "tap to take shot" enabled, I press and hold on the screen to focus before tapping to take the shot.

Well if you all can wait until July 17, I'll be putting my camera through its paces at a Sick Puppies concert. The lighting at this venue is "eh" at BEST, so I will see what I can get.

The only settings I can suggest as a baseline are sharpness - 1 with some adjustments to exposure when in highly lit situations. Without seeing pictures I can't really comment on what went wrong but if I were at a concert I'd probably use the "normal" setting using point focus on the face of the performer to capture. Like I said, share some pictures you think turned out bad and I'll try to help.

Coming from 5 years of iPhones I will also say that the camera on my One is probably the most disappointing feature so far. The camera in my 4, 4S and 5 were far superior in most instances.

I'm quite content with the camera on the One. Just have to know its limitations. Don't expect to shoot far off objects and be able to crop or zoom without the picture getting grainy. In my opinion it fares best where the subject is close. If you want one with more detail at further distances then the GS4 would be perfect (such as for a concert or sporting venue). I know all of our opinions will differ but it has been great for the most common situations I take pictures in. And the speed of it is appreciated when trying to take pics of kids that won't sit still.

I have to disagree with you on this one, aggie. I'm out west and have been using both my One and my iPhone 5, taking identical pictures for comparison. The iPhone 5 delivers consistently better results for me. The One has a lot of adjustability, but I'm liking the photos shot on my iPhone 5 over those of the One. Just my two cents.

Never said it fared better than the iPhone 5 :) just said it delivered decent quality in most situations. I responded to a post saying the camera is disappointing. I'd only find it disappointing if I had unrealistic expectations of it. While outside I much prefer the shots from my GS4 or even my wife's old iPhone 4s but the One still can produce good photos in most situations and some exceptional performance in low light.

Flash on: uploadfromtaptalk1372051778058.jpg
Normal mode: uploadfromtaptalk1372051799238.jpg
HDR shot: uploadfromtaptalk1372051836675.jpg

Keep in mind tapatalk or AC may slightly reduce quality of the shots.

I was shooting in the HDR, night, and normal mode, depending on the lighting that was being used during the show. And I was not saying I was definitely going to switch to the GS3, I compared them BC I have owned a GS3 and was really happy with the camera and the person that was with me had a GS3 and she has really good pics.

OK downloaded tapatalk4, but can't figure out how to login? How do I know what my login and password are? Trying to find a way to post pics on here.

I'm not sure with the tapatalk app, but I have the android central forums app, and it's under "more" for that app, I believe. tapatalk works with multiple forums, I think? so you have to access android central and login somehow.
