Camera not very good

I am not a pro photographer, but do own a Canon 30D DSLR and understand the basics of photography. I was not expecting much from the Evo camera, was hoping it would be similar to my wifes iPhone 4s. So far I am disappointed.

I have the following issues/complaints with the camera:

1) Flash gives the subject a green tint.
2) Seems to be some delay from clicking the shutter button to actually capturing the image. To be expected, I will probably get used to this.
3) Poor low light performance. I was hoping a f/2 (or is it f/2.8) would give better low light performance.

Is there any camera app that will allow you to control shutter speed? This would probably be enough for me to use this camera. Right now indoor photos are pretty blurry due to trying to hand-hold the camera with what feels like a shutter speed of 1/20 or slower.

Kick rocks and beat it then. Go take pictures with your wife's iPhone and post them on Idontcare.com. For a camera phone this **** rocks! This is a EVO LTE forum, what did you think the average Joe would have to say.

The camera seems to take great pictures only when you keep the phone as steady as possible. This basically renders the physical shutter button useless since clicking it seems to throw off the camera and take a really shaky photo.

For people who aren't professional photographers like me, I think this camera is just fine. Actually, It's lightyears ahead of the original Evo and 3D.

No you just hold trigger down :-) pick your best shot, best part about the camera.

Yea but that's not saying much since both of those cameras were horrible. This phone still doesn't match it's competitors in the photo quality arena though. HTC's optics suck.

Have we really reached this many pages in a thread about a camera on a phone? Is this camera up to par with a DSLR of course not, is this camera the best camera on a smartphone, probably not. This camera is the best camera HTC has put on their smartphone so can we stop comparing everything little thing to the Iphone. No one I know chooses their smartphone based on the camera especially Android users.

I've noticed the flash isn't as good as the OG EVO. Of course that one had 2 LEDs while the EVOLTE only has one, which is more common. But the exposure isn't on par with the OG EVO. But I love the the relatively small lag time of the shutter!

You are kidding right? The original EVO's flash whitewashed every pic i attempted beyond recognition. I loved the original EVO, but trying to take a pic at night was a lost cause as the flash was way too bright. I lost many nice moments because all of my night or dark light pics were severely washed out and unusable. The worse flash by far I have ever seen on a phone. Daytime pics were great thought...lol....

Actually, it says a lot. Apparently, you don't like HTC optics and we get that. Some of us like the Evo LTE optics no matter what you think. If you don't like it, then don't buy it or use it. You're not going to convince me otherwise.

Out of curiosity, are you using a case? I've found that with my case on I can't use the physical shutter button without shaking the camera, but when it's off I'm fine.

Basic photography 101. Of course the less movement of the camera while the shutter is open, the sharper the image. Pro photographers use tripods to hold the camera rock solid to get stunningly sharp images. Amateurs hand hold and jab at shutter buttons resulting in blurred images.

Obviously you aren't going to put your phone on a tripod, but you can hold it as steady as you can and press the shutter button slowly and evenly to cause as little camera movement as possible.

I wouldn"t be without a shutter button as the half press freezes shutter speed and aperture so you can creatively reframe the image before capture.

This camera is good enough that I no longer feel the need to constantly carry my compact point and shoot.

The camera is amazing! My wife s3 just came in the mail so I'll be doing a direct comparison...someone should start a thread little s3 vs evo LTE picture thread.

you are expecting too much our of a camera lens the size of pencil eraser. I am a pro photographer among other things and you are trying compare a DSLR lens that is several inches wide and made with the best sensors and materials to one in a phone...

as for flash giving a green tint...that is standard across photography.

Try more like a pinpoint... it looks to me like the Evo LTE's lens is around 2mm (12.56mm^2). My Alpha 65 DSLT's SAL18250 lens is 62mm (12,070.16mm^2)! That is almost 1,000 times more light coming to the sensor. And this is not even an exotic lens (around $1,000 or so). And the sensor is HUGE compared to the tiny nothing in a cell phone.

I don't know why people keep wanting to compare a cell phone to a "real" camera. Even a pocket camera has hundreds of times more light going to the sensor.

Still, for a cell phone, the Evo LTE's camera is quite good. And for most uses, it probably CAN replace a pocket camera. Do I care if the SIII's camera is 5% better or worse? No.

This is a daybreak shot, it was barely light out. This camera is outstanding for a phone.
