Camera orientation incorrect Camera 2.9.43

This morning I take a zillion photos and they upload to Google photos automatically. I go to my Mac, download the photos from Google photos and all so far is well. I go to Gmail to send the photos to family and things go sideways (literally). Once I attach the photos to my email they attach sideways. I tried the same thing by attaching the photos from the phone gallery in the email app on the phone and same issue.

If I do the same with my iPhone no issue.

Any resolution for this?

Open the pictures in a photo app and rotate them 90° before sending them.

That is the interesting part, they are the correct orientation when opened in Google photos or from my hard drive through preview.
