I want to buy an unlocked Samsung Note 5, intended to be used in the US with Verizon, to use in another country. I see on Amazon dedicated international versions, but wanted to buy this phone locally in the US before travelling abroad. Best Buy stocks unlocked versions, but the salespeople there said that, because the unlocked phones they're selling were originally intended for Verizon use, they would not guarantee those phones would work in another country.
I need to know before I buy a phone without a plan whether it will stop working once I leave US airspace.
Does anyone know if the Best Buy salespeople are excessively cautious or this is a real danger?
Apologies in advance for clogging the system: I already posted this as a nameless person in the "ask a question" forum before figuring out I should create an account and post here.
