Question Can files viewed on phone but only stored on sd card be recovered?

So I got an SD card from someone I'm curious to know what's on it but that someone was just arrested for some bad stuff and I don't want any part of that. So if I view files on my phone that are only saved on sd card will there be any trace of them on the phone after sd card is removed? TIA

Welcome to Android Central! It's possible a thumbnail might be created, but that would probably also be localized to the SD card.

You may just want to contact the police and let them know that you have an SD card that he used to have, and they might find it useful for their case.
