Android Central Question

Thinking of saving $$$ by cancelling home internet and just using my smartphone/cell data with an unlimited plan/hotspot add-on. But when it comes time to do a software update which requires wifi, what are my options? Is public wifi safe/adequate? Thanks

I think you can force updates over WiFi but yeah, if you can't, public WiFi would work. AS LONG as the update is available over WiFi (some very rare cases now, but if the carrier blocks the update to be made over mobile data only, you won't be able to use any WiFi network for that).

Also remember that de-prioritization kicks in a lot sooner for mobile plans, so just be mindful of that if you're using it for home internet on data-intensive activities like 4K streaming or even just HD.
