Can you Customize E-mail Alert in Infuse?

I am new

I've been BB user for years and I am thinking of trying out the Samsung Infuse (ATT has it for $20 Refurbished).

I am using heavily on e-mails. My question is:
Can you customize email alert on this phone?

For example, I want assign special alert (tone) on all e-mails coming from John Smith (like play "who let the dog out" tone).

I don't know of a way to do that. Only thing I know is to have a different tone for each of your email accounts. This is with the native app of course, I haven't tried any of the apps in the market, so it may be possible with others.

Consider reading this, although it's about motorola droid x, it would be the same suggestions if it were for the Infuse. Gotta love Android

According to the link provided, you can set email alert on the Android OS. Infuse is an android phone so I think the Infuse should be able to do the same.

I too came from a BB Bold and really missed BeryBuzz.

Try the apps WhoIsIt and also RingLeader.

I just pulled the trigger on the Infuse. It will be delivered next week. Hopefully this toy won't disappoint me

Yea, its just tricky. Its not under Settings - sounds. You open your email app then hit the menu key at the bottom. Select account settings and you can change it there.

That only allow you to change email notification

What I wanted is to able to "set special" alert/notification for specific email by sender or by e-mail address.

I just got my Infuse today and couldn't figure out how to get this done. Hopefully there is a workaround.

I believe that's the difference between the OS's. BB integrates all aspects of its contacts with its email/sms/bbm system which is why you can set different tones per contact so easily. Android/iOS separates the 2. All the integration between email and contacts is pulling your email contact info into your phone contacts info as well as opening the email app from phone contact. Hope that's not at all confusing. All I can think of off the top of my head is, if you're using gmail, label up and checkout GMail Label Notifier. If you're wondering about exchange server on the stock email app, you got me there. Good luck to you
