Cannot identify the cause of high battery drain.

I have a Huawei Mate 10 pro and have been using it for about 9 months.
I used to have amazing battery life with close to 8-9 hours of SOT ( and still had like 20% remaining never really went too low).

Recently I have been getting a battery drain of over 20% per night even if the phone is in doze mode.
I tried every method of finding out the battery drain and could not find it, assuming its a system bug i reset the phone but it did not fix anything.

I have wifi scanning and data always on turned off , so it disconnects mobile data and wifi if the phone is not being used.
I have just factory reset my phone and am posting screenshots of all my battery monitoring.

Please help me identify what is causing this battery drain.

So what I have noticed is that the drain is way worse on wifi than on mobile data.
Regardless in both cases, the drain is shown under 'phone radio' but its 4-5% per hour on wifi and 1-2% on mobile data.

I think that the time may have come to contact Huawei customer support over this. It seems to have defeated us all. It could be corrupt firmware or even a hardware problem.

I agree with this. Maybe some nasty bug in the system or maybe some hardware problem with the different radios.

If you do decide to do so, please let us know the outcome. This has been a most interesting thread, though of course we'd all prefer it if you had not had all this trouble in the first place.

The reason I mention taking out sim is to effectively turn off the mobile radio. Far better test that just disabling one app.
Removing the sim does not effectively turn off the radio. Let's not leave that falsehood unchecked. If anything, it compounds the trouble finding the energy drain. Good advice above.

That's why I asked you early on if you could be just on data , I think your issue is on wifi .
But do let us know what will be the outcome.

Yeah, I don't see any solution arising, it could be a firmware/hardware issue which is out of our scope to fix.

I have contacted Huawei Support and they agreed to replace/fix the phone (I have read on other forums that they have a huge stock for USA that seems doomed to be sold ever since their deals with the major carriers fell through and now with the recent news even more so, so they just give you a new phone in case of RMA).

I just got a new software update a couple of hours ago (maybe this fixes it? even though it's just a security update). I have to wait 3 days for the shipping label to be sent to me so ill test out this update to see if things improve.

Anyway thanks to all you guys, your insights have been helpful even though we couldn't defeat this issue without resorting to RMA.

Will keep this thread updated.

So the recent update seems to have fixed things. I updated the whole software again (via erecovery), installed all my apps and used the phone regularly and the battery life seems to be back to its former glory.

Decided not to RMA the phone.
