Android Central Question

Several times I have downloaded pictures from Google and want save my gallery but it's not working

Check to see which app you are using: Google Search vs Google Chrome.

Normally this is a problem with Google Search needing permission to write to the storage. Without the permission, it saves the images to a folder you cannot get to.

And downloading doesn't tell the phone that there's a new picture. Media Scan scans the phone when you start (or restart) it. Gallery uses Media Scan's database to see what pictures there are on the phone. (Music apps do that to see what music apps there are. The same for ringtones, notification tones and alarm tones.) So if you just download a picture, you have to restart the phone, before the phone is "aware" that there's a new picture file. (Or you could install media.Re.Scan and run that after downloading media files.)

Welcome to Android Central! As ManiacJoe said, you need to grant the Google app permission to access Storage. Go to Settings>Apps, select the Google app, then Permissions, then turn on Storage permission. Now any image you save using the Google app will save to the /Download directory.

Any previously saved image file still won't be accessible by you, except through the Google app itself, so you'll just have to re-download the images.
