Can't Get Google Wallet Working...

I tried it a few times at 711 and finally got it to work.

1st attempt I held the phone there with the screen off and nothing.

2nd attempt I had the screen on and still nothing.

3rd attempt I opened the app and punched in the pin before getting to the cashier and it was successful.

I just tried at CVS and felt like a big Dumbo holding my fone over the pay thingy. Mine didn't work either. My husband used it just fine at the same CVS a few days ago.... he didn't have to open the app or anything.

I've used it twice, once in a McDonald's, and once in a Duane Reade with success. From my experience, your phone and the app as to be unlocked for it to work. I tried it once with just he phone unlocked, but it then prompt me to enter my Google Wallet PIN and try again, then it worked.

I'm having some issues getting it to work. First place I tried it was at Best Buy. I held the phone against the terminal and entered my pin. After a second or so it said Sent. I kept it there and then a message came up saying Reader detected, last tap may have been unsuccessful, ask cashier if transaction is complete. It wasn't.

I then tried it at a CVS. Tapped it to the terminal and it worked instantly.

Tried at another Best Buy. Same thing as the first. It says sent, then hangs, then makes a weird noise and gives me that same message.

Tried it at a Macy's and it did the same thing as the two Best Buys.

Tried it today at a Chevron and it did the same thing as Best Buy and Macy's.

That makes one successful attempt. Am I doing something wrong? Or is it on their end? The second time at Best Buy I had him select credit but it still wouldn't go. I loaded fifty bucks onto it so I could use it a few times, but so far I've just looked like a total ****** trying to be cool with his magical phone that doesn't actually do anything.

Rabble rabble rabble.

I am having this issue as well. Says sent but there was not an actual transaction. I tried at 2Jack in the Box and 1 Circle K.

Mine worked at a BP gas station, although I did have to try it 3 times. I haven't loaded any more money on top of the gifted $10, so I can't verify if the first 2 times were just me not holding it correctly. The third time, it worked just as advertised. My register receipt printed, my prepaid card was debited, and shortly thereafter the transaction showed up in my history.

I'm a bit leery of adding more money onto it, as I don't see an option to unload the money back to my account (like Paypal). With my luck, I'd throw on $100 and some Verizon/Google shenanigans would ensure, disabling the app.

Have you guys who have been having issues made sure that credit was chosen as the type of transaction? In some places such as mcdonalds the cashier does not have to chose anything you can simply tap.....in other places the cashier has to chose credit (or sometimes you yourself have to chose credit) and then you can tap. It will say sent but never go through if debit, cash, or something oyher than credit is chosen. I always tell the cashier if im not sure that i am making a credit purchase, so if they haveto hit the credit button they do.......the only other place i have had an issue is at a place that simply is broken.

I have been successful at McD's and Wendys but CVS kept giving me an error on their terminal to swipe card again. Will try another location in the next few days...

I have requested them to press credit buttons but, can not promis they carried through or just looked at the screen and said okay..

My only issue with Wallet is that if you install then uninstall it then it won't work anymore. I had it on my Nexus and made tons of purchases. Then I had to do a factory reset and when I added Wallet back on my phone it said something about the Nexus not being supported. When I read the XDA forum it said that if you previously had Wallet on your phone and then try to install it again that it won't work. Kinda lame. I'm waiting for my refund to come in the mail :(

Works great for me on an unrooted Nexus - To use it at the store, open the Wallet app and enter your pin, tell the cashier you are using "CREDIT" (wait because they do something), place the phone directly on the pad area with the logos above the slot where you would usually slide the card - it vibrates and says it is done. Yes, you have to have the right card chosen as default, if you have no default set it will not work but it is possible to set it up that way! I went to the Google Wallet website and loaded mine up with 50 bucks from my debit card. Very convenient at Circle K and 7-11.

That is how it has worked for me as well.

It is kind of funny some of the looks I get from some of the employees behind the counter when I use it.

Installed with no issues and have the $10 google card. I tried to add my Citi Mastercard Debit card and it said the card is not supported. Does the card have to have the ability to tap built in, in order t use it with Google Wallet?

I am actually excited to go out and try it with the $10 from google...feel like a little kid waiting to play with a new toy :D

EDIT: Found a link to on the Google Wallet site to check if your Citi Cards support Google Wallet. My Debit does not but my Credit Card does...here is the link for those that want to check https://googlewallet.citi.com/usc/googlewallet/get.html?cmp=BAC-2-052611-GOOG-ACQ-BINFinder

I had the same issues. I did the following and it now works.
Clear cache and data, force stop and set up your account again..
It retained my user info and money i had added.

Good luck

Google wallet is great. I have use it the last three days. I've hardly touched my wallet/cards. Unrooted Nexus.

Likewise for me too. Wish there were more places around here that support it. Looks to be pretty standard at every McDonalds and CVS. Love the looks I get from bystanders and some cashier's.

You know you are hooked when you go out of your way "just" so you can use it! :D

You have to open google wallet to use it?

I have it installed. I thought it works without opening anything. Like leave it in purse or back pocket. If i have to open google wallet app, then it is not that convient after all.

I tried using it at cvs with the phone screen off and didnt work. So i quickly switch to a normal credit card.

for me the convenience comes from only having to carry my phone and not my wallet also. I find it to be much quicker than digging my wallet out, getting the card out, swiping, putting card away....putting wallet away.....my phones already in my hand....if the screen is on when u tap it the app will open....i open it up and put my pin in while in line...tap...and go.

I sure don't want it to work that way. The Paypass or whatever they are called credit cards have to touch or be right at the unit to work. Not in my back pocket as I walk by!

Now, in my mind it should open the app and ask for the PIN when it is activated by a machine. I don't know how it works, as I haven't tried it yet.

Your phone itself has to be unlocked.....if it is and you tap the terminal it will open the app to the pin....put it in and tap again and your done.
