Can't remove Facebook account?

I tried to remove Facebook from my Accounts screen, and it keeps telling me the username or password is incorrect. I have verified that both are correct. In fact, you can't even modify the username, only the password. I double-checked case sensitivity, even tried rebooting. No matter what I do, it won't let me remove the account. Furthermore, the Social Networking widget is reporting a sync error for the same reason (incorrect username/password).

I can still log into Facebook from my computer, so it's not a password issue. There is some sort of glitch, I think. I don't even know why it would have to check for username/pasword if you want to remove the account anyway?

So now I'm stuck. Can't remove the account, can't login to the account from the Accounts screen, so none of the built-in Facebook stuff it working. Short of a factory reset, I don't know what else to try?

Anyone else have this problem?

I just removed mine from the accounts screen. Odd its not working for you. Dumb question... have you powered your phone off and back on and then tried?

Yes, as I mentioned I did a reboot and tried again. No go. Someone over on the Android Forums site had the same issue and ended up having to factory reset. But I wanted to check here first before having to do that.

As it stands, all of the built-in Facebook stuff is broken now because trying to remove the Facebook account has caused it to give this incorrect username/password message everywhere. So not only can I not remove the account, I can't even click through the "ok" button (same error message).

I know the obvious thing is that I made some kind of typo or something, but I have confirmed over and over again that it is correct.

Yeah, that sucks. You didn't happen to root your device yet did you? I ask because another person was having their 'contacts' force close on them due to 'freezing' some applications using Titanium Backup. Unfroze them all and contacts stopped force-closing. Not likely your issue, but can't hurt to ask. (and /facepalm for me not seeing you say about the reboot before)

Nope, no rooting. Everything was working fine, in fact, until I went to remove the Facebook account. The reason I wanted to remove it was because I didn't want the contact info integrated. So I figured I'd just remove Facebook from my accounts and just use the app.

Well, I ended up doing a factory reset and that, of course, took care of the problem. But I'm afraid to add my Facebook account again, so I'm just using the app for now. The whole thing leaves a bad taste in my mouth, though.

i had this issue with my photon. it would have went away after you uninstalled the facebook app. assuming you had that installed. the problem is that you linked your account to the social networking app and facebook. if you would have given it time it would have went away.
