Can't seem to change date format on lockscreen clock and notification previews aren't working!!

Playing around with my new htc m8 and at the back of my mind im thniking of going back to my iphone 6. Little things bugging me...

I can't seem to change the locksceen clock. When i was playing with the m7, i could change the date format on the lockscreen clock i.e. 22/02, to Sunday, 22nd Feb etc. Now there isnt an optionto change for format? Is this right?

Also, with notifications, i dont mind my sms content to be visible on the lockscreen, but i dont want my whatapp content visible on the lockscreen, but the setting only seems to apply to every single app and not individual ones? Am i doing something wrong here?

What about Setting > Date & Time > Choose Date Format

Settings>sound and notification>app notifications (close to the bottom) This will let you block individual app notifications
