Can't switch to android at the moment, what the best options?

There are more customization options in Android, therefore iOS is less complex than Android. Some people just don't want to tweak their phone and mess with settings.

The iPhone vs. Android vs. WindowsPhone debate is a waste of time. All 3 have strengths and weaknesses. All 3 can deliver a great smartphone experience to the right user. I've used all 3 and may use any and all in the future. It's been a while since I've used an iPhone but when the iPhone 6 comes out with a 5" screen and hopefully a better looking os than 7, who knows, I may get one. Right now I'm happy with my Nokia 1520 WindowsPhone and I'm struggling with the decision to sell my mint condition LG G2. I love that Android but I don't see myself going back to it after using this 6" WP beast.

How do you like the 1520 and WP8? I have no experience with Windows Phone but the1520 certainly looks the part.

Wow, still going on about this? Why can't people just accept that for some people the iPhone is all they want. They do what they do really well. And you know you can jailbreak them, yes? My htc one is awesome but I am the first to admit that it isn't as smooth and reliable as an iPhone.
I don't get why people get so overexcited that some people want iPhones, some nexus, some htc, some Samsung. WHO CARES? Just enjoy the phone you've chosen and let others do the same!

But you don't have to tweak if you'd rather not. I just don't understand this whole misperception. Just because you can...

As I have aged and been through illness and other strange things, my mind is more foggy than before. If I have to look at a screenful of icons I get dizzy, even if I usually remember what I want and where it is.

If I couldn't make the screen easier to use I'd rather use a feature phone. This is why I think it's insane to say I phones are simpler. They're just not. They're stupider. Not simpler.

IPhones are stupider...for you...or for everyone? (hint: everyone is millions upon millions of people whose preferences and needs we don't know).

:)

They're stupider for anyone who suffers any type of mental confusion. It's easier to choose from 3 or 4 icons on a screen which a person may use daily than a dozen s/he doesn't.

So what about iPhone users that arrange their most used icons on one screen (or in a folder) and their less loved icons on another screen or in a folder?

TBH this particular feature seems simpler in iOS as the creation of new screens happens just by dragging an icon over to the edge of the last screen (I may be mistaken), but is accomplished in multiple different ways in Android depending on the launcher and the ROM.

I'm certainly no genius and I'm sure many here might say I'm quite confused but iOS doesn't seem stupider to me...just different and I like to tinker as much as the next guy.

You do have to tweak Android phones to take full advantage of the OS. Otherwise, we would all be using unrooted devices with the same launchers and icons.

I'm not an apple fan, but I can still objectively look at the iPhone and see why certain people would prefer it over an Android device. Some just want the entire Apple experience, while others like the UI and the industrial design of the 5s.

For right now I'm still completely stock unrooted on here. I like it. I have a couple of folders on the home screen with the apps I use most and on my right screen I have a few of my entertainment type apps arranged how I want them in a couple of folders. The point though is you don't have to tweak anything. It's fine OTB.

The only way I could admit the iPhone may have any legitimate appeal is if anyone truly finds it more aesthetically appealing. And if they do, would they feel the same if it were sold as a lower end Android?

I didn't know you could create folders on iPhone. That's not what I've heard but if it can be done that's a plus.

You should try Next Launcher 3D sometime. Just for the dessert aspect of it.

Don't get me wrong. I prefer Android and what I've been able to do with it. I, however, can still see the value in the iPad and iPhone. Sometimes I even think it would be neat to have a phone the size and power of the iPhone 5s that ran Android. I think the Nexus 5 is pretty durn slick though at a much much better price. ...but I guess not too many want a high-end phone the size of the S3 Mini. Too bad.

EDIT: I guess there is that Goo Phone but I'm skeptical about its legitimacy.

Yes iOS copied this from Android. Just drop one icon on top of another and a folder is born.

I'm not sure Apple copied anything from Android. You do know that Android development was completely redesigned when the iPhone came out. The design team scrapped what they had and started over. Android is a copy of IOS.

I won't pretend to know what version of iOS introduced folders but we do know it wasn't always in iOS. Was it the iPhone4? I just can't remember.

As a whole I have to remember that my lack of love for stock Android is just mine and that most Androiders are just fine with the look and feel of stock. I have to root, swap out icons, change launchers, fonts, and a whole bunch of other nonsense that takes a while but that I'm happy with in the end. I love that Android is like Burger King allowing me to have it MY way.

The 4 was the last model I had and it had it. It was IOS 5 I think.

To answer your question about the 1520, I love it. It is big, fast and smooth.

This may have been the case initially, but Android has been the more feature rich OS for a while. Parts of iOS 7 were clearly inspired by recent versions of Android.

So, right now I can't really switch to a android phone. I have a 5S on the ATT next program and I can't switch to a android phone either until I pay the iPhone off fully or unless I get a off contract phone like the nexus 5 or moto G. But what are my options right now so I do t become further entrenched in apple land?
Wean yourself off Apple products. By this I mean things like e-mail and Texting. Download Google apps (GMail, Hangouts, Maps, Drive, ect) and start using them in place of Apple alternatives.

Stop buying apps on my iPhone and ipad?
Yes. Unless they are vital.

Get a moto g and use it because it's cheaper than a nexus 5, or just save for a nexus 5? I already own a nexus 7, so just start buying apps on that instead?
My advice is to wait and save for a Nexus 5. Avoid buying apps until you switch over.

That being said, in your place I would probably not have the patience and would buy a Moto G instead. The Moto G is a great phone, but the nexus 5 is even better and is worth the wait IMO.

The thing with apple is I think they make solid products, it's just I believe right now at this point in my life i don't really want to feel trapped in a ecosystem. I'd rather have something with a few issues instead of a lack of excitement. And I'm continuing to find android to be more exciting than iOS. I still think ios has more beautiful apps, but I think it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
Android apps are quickly catching up to iOS. The Android UI has matured to the point where iOS no longer has a clear lead. The Nexus 5 is extremely smooth and fast, and does so without the compromises iOS was forced to make.

Apple is not as awful as people think, but I only recommend it to people who fit the following criteria: You have to not care about what iOS can't do (and a lot of people don't care about it's limitations), and you have to have deep pockets, because everything about iOS is expensive. People who fit those criteria should definitely buy Apple, because Apple products themselves are definitely top shelf.
