Cases and screen protectors?

Oh and btw, most of my accidental falls of my current Epic 4G have been at the gym. Stupid cable getting tangled up on machines and myself!! Had it not been for the Seidio active case that I have on it, it DEF wouldn't have lasted as long as it has!!

Looking around for cases, found this one:

Looks very slick, and I want to be able to see the back of the blue color. Unfortunately, I don't think it's released yet but hopefully it'll be out before the phone ships.

Expansys USA has the Samsung Bumper white case as pictured in the video and a blue one too. $19.99

So I understand the need for a case but I was wondering about a screen protector. I have had my droid x for close to 2 years now. I removed the screen protector after a year. I just didn't like the quality of the screen with it on. Granted it was probably a crappy screen protector. But since than I have accidentally put it in my pocket with my keys and god knows how many times I have dropped it. There isn't a single mark on the screen. This is just my personal opinion but do we think screens are more fragile than they actually are?

Keys and metal are not as hard as glass. Unless its hardened steel, then it might be as hard as glass. The problem is, sand, IS as hard as glass. Since it has things like quartz, and other minerals that are very very hard. That's why they take the average house key and do that "scratch test" on youtube. It's not all that impressive because keys are relatively soft metals (any of your keys are sharp as the day they were cut? or are they very rounded?). If you live in sandy places, or have diamonds or sapphires in your rings, then as long as you are somewhat careful, you don't need to worry much about scratching. But, if you're rough on your phone, then get one as a precaution. Like my wife...who drops it, tosses it in the purse with who-knows-what, or anything like that.

I have a blackberry and still love the pouch over anything else I've found. I have ordered this one from eBay available in different colors or leather until I can see the otterbox and seido cases. I can't not have a case cuz I always have so much crap in my pockets and know I'll scratch it if I don't have protection. And for under $10 to ,y door accross and ocean I can't complain.

PREMIUM PU LEATHER PULL TAB CASE COVER POUCH FOR SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 S III I9300

Hey all--

Bought THIS case $1.98, free shipping. I figure, the 'gel' will absorb impacts better, let me see the phone, and provide a decent grip. If i don't like it -- it was less than $2 bucks. I really like those aluminium bumper cases, but i'll wait for the verdict on those.

ill pick up the seidio spring clip; i have had them for years; excellent product!

I like the Seidio holsters and cases... but for some reason the spring loaded clip on mine keeps breaking. The most recent one I have.... one of the two springs some how broke... so I guess the load was too much for the one remaining spring... so now that springs seems to have gotten weaker and the clip doesn't really hold that much tension any more.

Is anyone getting the samsung flip Case?

I like the idea of the Samsung flip case... but there's one thing I really don't like about them. Not just for the Galaxy S3... but for all their products... and it's the same reason why I didn't buy an offical Samsung case for my Galaxy Tab. I have no idea why the cases are designed so that if you open them it blocks the camera on the back!

i think you're better off with the TPU you bought over the aluminum one. I believe the TPU offers the absolute best in protection for cell phones. lightweight, durable, soft, etc...it's the best type of case I have used on my phones in the past...and I have tried them all...aluminum..seidio, hard plastic, silicone...tpc is the best IMO...and its by far the cheapest as well.
nice find!

I'm building a line of cases for the S III - and I have handled and studied most of the cases posted because China makes the same cheap cases for every phone that comes out.

I would never ever buy an s-line case. They are a dime a dozen and you won't be happy. I have one here for my GN and it was terrible.

I also bought a clear case. The problem with clear cases is that while the back is very thin and you see the color through it, the sides are technically thick since it's from the bottom to the top. So you see a whitish color on the edges which isn't very nice looking. Also clear is over-rated.

I would avoid wasting money on most of these cases. Some are good like the mesh cases or triple protection cases but they are not out yet.

If anyone wants to ask me about a case they see on ebay let me know - I have piles of them here.

We are making a slim case and a protective case. Unique design but still in design stages. Probably will be a month.

By the way I ended up using a sharpie marker on my clear case to show someone a design I wanted so it ended up being worth it.

You can draw nearly anything on them :-X

Those are the cheapest cases they make and that stand won't last very long at all.

I have questions...

just how long will the stand last?
you know this because you have used one?
on what phone?
how did it break?
how long did you use it?
why is it that my clear tpu doesn't have this whitish color on the edges you speak of?
overrated how?
have a link to a better case?

I have used tpu cases like the clear one i linked on 3 different phones. NEVER has one failed or worn out. They have offered better and longer lasting protection then ANY other case I have EVER tried..at a cheaper price as well. They have actually been a prime example of when the saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't mean jack squat...

...unless you happen to be in the retail business of selling them....in which case, I would imagine a retailer would HATE the fact that a sub $3 case outperforms, outsells, and outlasts the $35-55 otter boxes and seidio money makers wasters in their store...

everyone is entitled to their opinion...but at $3-4 I recommend EVERYONE take the Pepsi challenge on using a TPU case vs. whatever case they think is the best. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much money you will save on this accessory for your next phone.

is there a better case out there?

maybe, but I have yet to find one that trumps the plain cheap old tpu you can find shipped from hongkong for <$3

If its possible to make a SLIM PROTECTIVE case, I'd DEF be interested. Thats what I'm ideally looking for.

I've been trying to find a comparison of the Incipio Silicrylic and the Otterbox Commuter. Haven't really found one. I'm not sure if a TPU case is enough protection for my baby (my GS3). So, I want more protection but I dont want to risk all the slimness of the device. So I've come down to these 2 cases. I'm wondering which one is slimmer and which one has more protection, then I can make my decision. Might look into the Seido cases as well.

You can have protection OR slimness, but not both. The Silicrylic and Commuter are pretty thick(for protection). The TPU cases are thin but also give a good amount of shock absorption and protection. The Seidio cases are pretty thin also.
