Cases and screen protectors?

Those are the cheapest cases they make and that stand won't last very long at all.

So what case would you recommend then? I'd wait for the one you're designing, but I want something on my phone when it comes out.

I have questions...

just how long will the stand last?
you know this because you have used one?
on what phone?
how did it break?
how long did you use it?
why is it that my clear tpu doesn't have this whitish color on the edges you speak of?
overrated how?
have a link to a better case?

I have used tpu cases like the clear one i linked on 3 different phones. NEVER has one failed or worn out. They have offered better and longer lasting protection then ANY other case I have EVER tried..at a cheaper price as well. They have actually been a prime example of when the saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't mean jack squat...

...unless you happen to be in the retail business of selling them....in which case, I would imagine a retailer would HATE the fact that a sub $3 case outperforms, outsells, and outlasts the $35-55 otter boxes and seidio money makers wasters in their store...

everyone is entitled to their opinion...but at $3-4 I recommend EVERYONE take the Pepsi challenge on using a TPU case vs. whatever case they think is the best. You will be pleasantly surprised at how much money you will save on this accessory for your next phone.

is there a better case out there?

maybe, but I have yet to find one that trumps the plain cheap old tpu you can find shipped from hongkong for <$3

Yes I have tried them and yes they have broken.

If you want to buy a TPU case the best bet is to buy a Cruzerlite or a Diztronic. They both make the best TPU cases you can get and they are only $9.90. If that's too much for you it isn't my issue.

I would wait until the full selection of cases are out from all of the big names and decide based on the feedback on Amazon.

Until then why not buy a Cruzerlite or Diztronic TPU case - both are cheap but the highest quality TPU you can get.

I've bought both.

If its possible to make a SLIM PROTECTIVE case, I'd DEF be interested. Thats what I'm ideally looking for.

You can't have both - you can have a slim case or a protective case.

All slim cases are different but most don't protect the edges in certain areas - we are trying to protect as much as possible.

Our protective case will be one of the thinner ones but I honestly don't know when it will be out. We are using different materials for both cases.

Right now on my Galaxy Nexus I use the Ringke Slim. It's a terrific slim case but the problem is that it doesn't protect the sides. Since I rarely drop my phone I like the feel and lightness.

I also have mesh combo cases that I like and don't add too much bulk. They are not out yet for the S III.

Not trying to be ignorant, but where did you buy them from?

When they become available you can get them on Amazon.

They are both the same quality - Cruzerlite's have more patterns and Diztronic is for you if you like just plain matte colors.

They usually sell for $9.90.

I just checked the Cruizerlite website and they have some already listed.

And the Diztronic's will be available starting the week of June 18th.

Most of the known case makers are releasing their cases for sale around then.

I just called Cruzerlite to see if they had the hole above the flash. I know Joel who started the company (he's helped me get started with some information). He's a very nice guy. He usually has a deal on Amazon which is buy two get one free.

If you take a look at the pictures of the slim cases coming out you may notice that many do not protect the top or bottom. It may be because they feel it's easier to leave the ports and those holes open. I don't approve of that design - we'll just make a small hole.

I'm researching the microphone issue. If anyone as a picture of the actual phone it would be helpful...

I just don't understand what makes cruzerlite's or diztronic's TPU better then anyone else's?

like I said before...i have never had a TPU case fail. The kick stand may be a different story, but a basic tpu case is semi-indestructible.

most likely...they are buying from the same mfgr. in hongkong that I am...I'm just skipping the middle man.

There are many grades of quality in TPU. Just like toilet paper - are you going for the rough stuff that breaks or the nice smooth stuff on your bottom.

The S Series cases are the joke of China. They are so cheaply made that someday hotels will probably put them on peoples pillows instead of mints.

I can get them for .15 each. Not interested.

I know the type of TPU that the companies use and it's a very good grade. Durability, feel, etc..

That's what most of us are doing. I spent 3 dollars for a case to put my phone in IMMEDIATELY after I take it out of the box. I can't go wrong with that.

Hey do any of you know if the tpu clear case w/diamond style back AC did a review on the other day (I think 6/10-11) is available in the us yet or is it just available in the Uk? I have been trying to find a link on where to order it from and no luck.

Cases are so subjective. Its hard to compare them all, because they offer different coverage. I have had almost every kind of case. From the strong, rugged otterbox to the slick and thin incipio and casemate, and an in between great quality made case and holster from seidio. It all depends on what you are looking for in protection and style. I like to have a few options for when I need em!!

I totally agree. The only case I don't care for is the otterbox. Because I'm at a desk all day what do I need that type of protection for.

Many people have multiple cases for multiple occasions. I have the thin and the protective. You buy what looks good.

You are partially correct. What you see on Alibaba anyone can buy if they have enough money. Most of the cases require that you buy 900 at a time. The cases come in a plastic bag.

I've been doing this long enough to recognize the same designs made by the same factories for every phone that comes out. Most of the ones you can buy are garbage. Even worse they can sell the cases from China for $2 because China subsidizes shipping (.75 anywhere). Of course it will take a month to get to you but for $2 who cares.

That's why I said the S-Line cases were the joke of China. In a few months every single seller will have tons in stock and the price will plummet.

There are a few good quality manufacturers I found that make the same design for each phone but they are few and far between.

The margins for these cases are very large for one main reason - there is no mold fee. That's the fee to make a mold to create the cases with. Generally a decent mold costs $5000 and up.

So not every case you see selling is a high margin case - the ones that places like Seidio, Otterbox, Incipio, etc... have tighter margins because not only do they pay for the mold, but the cost per piece for quality materials is very high. Then throw in packaging and all the other costs and it's not as easy as it sounds.

This is why the Kiosks you see in malls selling cases do so well. They are owned by a large group who buys in size and ships a bunch of kinds to each Kiosk. The Kiosk hands you the case - no packaging needed. They get almost 100% of their cases from the stock china cases you see. So they spend .50 per case and sell it for $20. Kiosks are a bigger rip off than retail which is pretty bad also.

Also, Korea is a place that makes cell phone cases also. Much higher quality but a much higher price.

I have piles of cell phone cases here - most are garbage. Some of the ones I have are very nice and I've sold them before. But you cannot run a company selling products that are available to anyone.

It's not as easy as you think and not as high margin as you think when it comes to a high quality company who cares.

Also try to find an honest company to do the work for you... good luck.

Phone cases are an extremely high margin business and they are ALL made in China. Other than a few larger "manufacturers", most are merely sourced from China then branded.

Here's what you will basically see flood the market...

Galaxy S3 Cases-Galaxy S3 Cases Manufacturers, Suppliers and Exporters on Alibaba.com

Wasn't questioning your motive or expertise. Merely pointing out the fact that the saying "you get what you pay for" doesn't necessarily apply when it comes to phone cases, as well as providing a general overview of what is out there in terms of variety.

Not a problem. I actually think you do get what you pay for. Since I'm actively making models now I know each cost and the quality of what you can get.

Most of the cases you see on Alibaba are low quality.

When you buy a retail case for the most part they are high quality.

The only exception would be Ballistic. I've seen their stuff in AT &T and Sprint. They just took an existing Chinese case anyone can get and printed their logo on it. $35 Retail when you can get them on my Amazon listing for $9.90. When I went to the stores to check out the cases and saw that I nearly crapped my pants.

Then again Ballistic probably doesn't make that much because retail buys them as close to your wholesale as possible.
