[CDMA HERO ROM] Gumbo ROM 1.5c

By current settings, what do you mean? Also, you don't need SetCPU -- Gbhil built into this ROM a aggressive memory/process killer and setup the phone to "On Demand" settings by default.

Thanks for the info... I didn't realize this. I have been running SetCPU. Should I uninstall it now that I have been using it, or did it over-write gbhil's settings and now I should keep running it?

Thanks.

didn't know this either thanks for the info on that.
Do we still need to hit the back button to close apps like before or can we just hit the home button and call it a day...

The back button doesn't close apps. Have no idea where that got started, but it's not true. If the application doesn't have a menu item to close it, it let's Android manage it. Hitting the back button until your back to the homescreen is just the long version of hitting the home button.

In spare parts i now have an option for Activity/process management to be normal or aggressive neither is selected should i check one of them or not?

Got yer PM, but I wanna answer here too so everyone else can read.

It's GREAT that the Spare Parts dev is including those new settings, and that apps are starting to show up in the market that do it too.

For this ROM, I've already built in a service that controls the minfree settings, so it's not needed. Using the ones in Spare Parts won't hurt, but you don't need to. The only thing different from using spare parts settings is that you don't have control over the actual numbers, and have to use one of the two choices. But I'll bet the choices offered are pretty good...look at the rest of the spare parts app. It's amazing.

Ok just to inform everyone the setting for the task manager in the spare parts apps DO NOT use those options it will cause problems with your sd card I found out the hard way so I wanted to let you guys know about it.

Quick question for everyone (and sorry to crash this thread). Does this ROM solve the keyboard lag that the stock ROM exhibits? Thanks! :)

From what I've seen Gb, the back button does in fact close an app.
For instance,
I open Handcent to send a text, once its sent, I hit home button.
If I hit the handcent icon again it loads up immediately to the page I was on, for instance the actual contacts page.
If I had hit the back button, it takes me back to the list of all contacts with open threads, and again to the home screen. If I were to hit the Handcent button again, it would take a bit to load (although they've cut this wait time down a bit) and be at the list of all open threads.
To confirm this, I opened up Linda file manager after both instances and went to the task manager.
There are a few apps that do not follow this principle. That would be the stock browser, people and dialer. I constantly see those still open after use in the Task Manager. All of the 3rd party apps I have close with the back button and stay open with the home button. Again, you know way more than I do about this... but I do notice better battery life/performance with the back button vs home button.

one word:
YESSSS!!!!
OMG its so much better! It does a better job at making sure you aren't too overloaded to use the keyboard. I may experience a long press button when I didn't long press it, but its much less than the stock rom.

So I flashed the Bare ROM cuz I wanted to use dxTop.
I got all my apps installed on my SD card to fix the over 70 apps on phone issue, and when i turned my phone off & back on, I'm still having the no signal and a plethora of FCs :(
ANY idea what I need to do to fix this?

I beleive all 1.5 roms have this problem no matter where you save apps. Delete sum apps restart.

Thanks for the reply! This ROM sounds great :)

I've experienced this as well. I don't know if the apps are actually closing or not, but I do notice that my phone seems to appreciate completely backing out of an app rather than just jumping to home.

I noticed that when I had both setCPU and gbhil's gumbo.sh on my phone, it seemed to lag pretty horribly, and the battery life went down noticeably. I was hoping to have a quick method of changing states, without having to plug my phone into my computer to modify the gumbo.sh file, but I found that I was much better off just removing setCPU and rebooting the phone. I don't know if this is based on any sort of logic or not; my phone seems to be able to make up rules as it goes... :p

Okay, so I deleted a bunch of apps to get around 70 :( and the phone reboots okay, but now I'm getting 'error code 67: registration failure'
I tried to go on Sprint's site to talk to someone and of course it's down for maintenance.
Has anyone has this issue before?
All I want is a fast, pretty phone dangit! The Tech gods are against me.

*update*
Funny story, I re-logged into the facebook and flickr settings on the phone and it fixed itself. Very odd.

The error is usually associated with Data Provision (Sprint's data services basically) -- in which, you would just have to reset the Data settings on your phone, reboot and it should fix itself, but glad to see things are working.

is there anyone who can extract the 0.32 kernel from this and zip it up and sign it for me? ive tried and the signing fails everytime. :(

i need this for a rom im running.
