I have charged my phones since the Note 4 over night and I have never had a problem with battery life. My Note 8 battery was the same when I turned it in as it was two years ago.

Ok, so I did not read all the way to the end, BUT I HAVE A QUESTION.. I saw this and it made me wonder
I charge my phone overnight - BUT - I saw..when plugged in - it displays the battery percentage as well as the message that it's charging and it will take x amount of minutes until it's full...that message stays there....the whole time... it does not move.... are we not worried about screenburn ... the AOD details change position every now and again.. I even have mine off... but that message stays right there... until you unplug the charger... should I be worried... surely Samsung thought about this ??

This is the first phone that I have done like this and he's right. I charge it to 100 then unplug it and go to bed. When I wake up, I'm still in the 90s. I charge it as I get ready it out it on the wireless charger at work.

If I know I'm going to be away from a charger most of the day, I charge it overnight because.... Well.. Android.

Why charge overnight? Phone charges from zero to 100 in one hour. When you wake up, put it on the charger. By the time you get done ready for the day, you have full charge.

I haven't looked closely myself, but I'm wondering how you verified that it doesn't move. Did you compare photographs of the screen at different times, or place something on the screen next to the charging indicator to pinpoint its original position? A slight, slow migration might otherwise go unnoticed.

Since the Note 8 I have had a Samsung Wireless charging stand and use it to charge over night, I also leave the device playing music from files stored on SD so there is a constant small drain but the device does remain at 100% charge. That said I have not had any major issues resulting from doing this. This is my observation and your mileage may vary.

One reason to always use the OEM charger with your phone.

I just wish OEMs gave us a longer than 3 foot cable to go with that charger...

and the irony there is that they don't sell a longer cord and force us to use outside sources. if they want to include a short cord, fine, but at least offer an oem longer cord.

While this question is valid, I don't think it's necessary. Are you suggesting that the OEMs designed a message to move ever so slightly but look like it's in the same position just to avoid screen burn in? I personally wouldn't give them that credit.

Amadeab, I'd say the answer to your question aligns with the theme of this entire thread: there is truthfully a risk, but it's arguably negligible.
Keep in mind that the text is quite small, and that in your use case (overnight, like my own use case), the screen is off, so the text is probably at the dimmest setting. This likely minimizes the risk of burn in, and even if it did occur, you may not notice it unless you had a straight black wallpaper.

Yes, that would be the obvious, standard thing to do.

I get your point, but as long as you buy a reputable brand, non OEM cables work great. It's those cheap cables sold in convenience stores and 5 below that I would avoid.

Mine changes from fast charging to just the battery symbol and percentage and when fully charged it says fully charged so something is always there.

I've been charging my phones overnight as well for I don't know how long. I also haven't noticed any battery issues. However, I haven't held on to a phone for 2 years since the Note 1.

I hold onto all my Notes at least two years, also charging each one overnight. no battery issues either

Well I'm getting the 45w charger soon and the Note 10 plus 5G tonight/tomorrow, my intention was to leave the 45w in my living room and use the 25w in my bedroom and charge either wired or wireless overnight using the duos charger I got for free with the Galaxy Watch, in 6 months time I'll let you know if my battery is cactus or not
