Charging overnight?

Well I'm getting the 45w charger soon and the Note 10 plus 5G tonight/tomorrow, my intention was to leave the 45w in my living room and use the 25w in my bedroom and charge either wired or wireless overnight using the duos charger I got for free with the Galaxy Watch, in 6 months time I'll let you know if my battery is cactus or not :)

I too keep my fast chargers in the living room and office, places I'm likely to be and need a quick top up. I have a slower charger by the bed where I'm less concerned about it.

Why charge overnight? Phone charges from zero to 100 in one hour. When you wake up, put it on the charger. By the time you get done ready for the day, you have full charge.

What is your like me and you roll out of bed and dress and brush teeth and put shoes on and leave? LOL

Car chargers.
Interesting you mention this as this thread is about battery health, yet certainly many phones batteries are damaged more by sitting in the sun above a dashboard with a full charge on the way to and from work, especially in the summer . Heat is right up there with killing a liion.
Have a great Friday

You don't have to mount your phone on the dashboard to charge it in a car. If I didn't have Android Auto I would get a vent mount. A phone on the dash can get hot enough to shut down.

Ditto. Mine sit below the dash and out of the sun.

I'm sure the mods and regulars here would not do it, but as we look around in traffic, it's a popular mounting position for many as I've seen.

I trust my phone to protect itself from excessive heat, and I've never had it shut down even when I navigate with it mounted on the window in bright sunlight. I do turn the screen off most of the time while navigating, mostly to avoid burn-in, but it may also help with the heat.

But the most important consideration for me is that a window-mounted phone does not require glancing away from the road, and I put my safety (and others') ahead of my phone's wellbeing.

You can also drape a light cloth or something over the back of the phone to give it some shade.

I do see it where I live.. but also see a lot more people using CarPlay and Android Auto lately. Especially as they upgrade cars. I drive a truck so I can see into a lot and I'm surprised I see that as I didn't expect normal people to do it.

Or just use Android Auto or CarPlay. No mounted phone in your face and the dash is your screen just like your phone would be. Also no burn in since the screen on the phone stays off... And no direct sunlight since it can sit wherever.

Problems solved.

Sorry, I meant window-mounted, above the dash (I edited my post to clarify). Even the dash display requires glancing away from the road, so I'd rather minimize the need to do that.

Still, I should try Android Auto or CarPlay. The issue is that I don't own a car, and I've never had time to try to set it up at the start of a car rental. Also, I haven't researched what permissions those apps need and whether there's much security risk from the connection if the rental car is afflicted with malware.

I'm not sure there's a malware risk connecting to car but I guess anything's possible. It doesnt take long to set it up.

Ok, so I did not read all the way to the end, BUT I HAVE A QUESTION.. I saw this and it made me wonder
I charge my phone overnight - BUT - I saw..when plugged in - it displays the battery percentage as well as the message that it's charging and it will take x amount of minutes until it's full...that message stays there....the whole time... it does not move.... are we not worried about screenburn ... the AOD details change position every now and again.. I even have mine off... but that message stays right there... until you unplug the charger... should I be worried... surely Samsung thought about this ??
I asked this very same question in another forum. Quite a few of us were concerned about that battery charging info always staying on. A workaround suggestion until Samsung gives us the option to turn off this notification, is to use a "Black" screensaver when your phone is charging. With the screensaver enabled, you naturally let they phone's display time out and go into the screensaver mode, (you DO NOT physically turn off the display). This way you do not see any charging notification at all. Toenail_flicker gave me this suggestion and I've been using it ever since.

No more then you glancing at your mounted phone IMO. Taking your eyes off the road is taking your eyes off the road... there is no less version of it :P.

With Android Auto and Carplay the audio and everything is piped through the car and anytime I want to call, text, set a reminder, go to an address, etc. I can simply ask Siri or Google Assistant without every looking away.

So turning around and glancing behind you would be no different than looking at the dashboard? Seems to me that the further away you have to look, the worse it is. Glancing at the dashboard is slightly further than glancing at a windshield-mounted phone, so it's slightly worse.

Yup, voice control of the phone is good, whether directly or via a car app.

If you think glancing at a screen is as bad as turning around then.. idk. Your dash mount is ever so slightly of a turn compared to my screen.

Sorry thought we were having a real conversation not being overly dramatic / splitting hairs for no reason. Guess I'm done here with this particular convo.

I never said anything like that. Turning around is obviously much worse, and turning slightly downward is slightly worse--the more the deflection, the worse it is.

Yeah as I said I thought real conversation not splitting hairs from a dash mount to a screen lol. Anyways have a good one.

A very slight difference in safety, multiplied by millions of instances, can amount to a difference of a handful of lives. I wouldn't call that splitting hairs.
