Actually recommendations are keep it topped as much as possible. The closer to 100% you are charging, the more cycles you can squeeze out. But there's a point when it becomes impractical though.If you charge a Li-ion battery above about 75% and leave it there long term, that's bad. It causes accelerated breakdown internally, reducing your capacity. Even overnight can cause some degradation.
Charging to full and using it right away is generally fine, as the battery will not remain at that high charge level for long.
