Re: [Chatter] I <3 JB

Love Keaton, and love Multiplicity.. He's great. But still I think Bale has been the best Batman.

Bale the best Batman???? No more alcohol, For that man ;)

Lmao the debate will rage on forever I'm sure. A lot was due to Nolan's script and directing, of course, but still, it's been the best Batman ever delivered, IMO...

I'm a huge fan of Nolan. And a pretty big fan of Bale. But I'm just not 100% on his performance as batman.

No love for Val?

My thoughts 100%.

I thought Val wasn't that bad. He's not as good as Keaton, and his Bruce was kind of annoying and petulant, but at least he was a bit more "athletic" as Batman.

Time for another!

Yeah I need one, that's for damn sure. Not even sure if my little ass TV back home can "play" it, that's how much I know about BluRays. Speaking of which, thanks for the PMs!

I've got 3 lol

Any TV should be able to. The TV is irrelevant to the player. As long as it can be plugged into the TV, it wont matter. Most Blu-ray players sport HDMI out, but there may be some that have other options too.

No problem! You've helped me a bunch on here (not to mention everyone else that has received help). Consider it some level of payback.

Any tips of finding a really, really cheap one? lol

And re: the TV, I had an inkling it was like that, but not actually having one made me uncertain. My TV has HDMI out--I am 93% certain lol

I'll keep you posted re: lifting experiments lol

Re: [Chatter] I <3 JB

If it's an HD TV and is less than, I dunno, say 10 years old it should. My first HDTV was purchased in '04 I think ('03 model) and had 2 HDMI inputs I think. I'm now on my second and have added two more in addition (lol I'm an addict). I've yet to see one that didn't have HDMI (though I wasn't looking hard when they absolutely first came out).

And how cheap is cheap?

For the lifting, that should at least help work as a launching point. I've messed with the routine far too many times to count. But that's the most recent methodology for me.

I have to check; got the TV through a bequest, and while it works, could use something a bit bigger. But THAT type of purchase is not anywhere near happening.

Cheap...$100 or below :). Or around there.

Re: [Chatter] I <3 JB

Ok, that's near my level of cheap (I've had people ask me at the $40 level and you get what you pay for). My most recent player was the Panasonic DMP-BDT220. It's probably one of the better units out there. Best Buy has it on sale for $115 right now I think. It's got WiFi built in and access to the most common internet applications (Hulu/youtube/netflix/pandora/facebook/etc) and does 3D (may not be needed now, but upgrade path?). Best Buy also has a cheaper Panasonic player (DMP-BD87 for $90) that is lacking 3D and some internet apps but still has WiFi built in. I went with the 220 because it was going to be connected to a 3D TV and I wanted that option.

On that note, 3D is totally a gimmick in the home. It's nothing spectacular, but it's kinda cool. I don't use it often, but it's nice to have. Not sure if that justifies the extra $25, but if you buy a player without 3D and decide you want it later, you'll need to buy a whole new player. FWIW, Panasonic makes solid Blu-ray players.

Wait, 3D? Where the hell have I been? Is that possible on a regular TV?

Re: [Chatter] I <3 JB

Has to be a 3D capable TV. The screen alternates images intended for one eye only. The glasses are tuned in the block out the eye that isn't supposed to see that image. (simplistic explanation)

Also, on at least the 220 player, I believe DLNA is supported. So if you install a DLNA server on your phone (and the player and phone are connected to the same home network), you should be able to stream media (music/videos/pictures) physically stored on the phone to the player. I haven't personally tested it, but if someone wanted to me to try and report my findings I certainly could.
