If you truly believe a phone with those exact specs is coming out in the next month or even two, then I have some swamp land in Florida I would like to sell you.

I'll pass on the Swampland, but I do believe it. It's worth waiting a few weeks to find out, don't ya think? It's not like they're going to stop selling this phone while we are waiting.

Went to the Sprint last night, they had the Galaxy S2 in the back room, and let me play with :)

I am a big Android fan, having owned the Nexus-One...EVO 4G...EVO-3D ( for just two weeks )...Nexus-S 4G right now.

First impressions, the device is razor thin, and very light, I could not believe how thin it was, and the large screen was amazing, but the thinness was shocking and cool. But after a couple minutes with it, I think TouchWizz 4.0 is just ok, much prefer stock Android. And it did lag a little here and there. I keep reading how this phone is butter smooth always, and never once slows or gets choppy. BS, it did lag. Going between live wallpapers and adding some widgets I saw some lag, which I did not expect. But really wasn't that bad, but still I did not expect any chop at all.

The screen, is huge, and is very vibrant with great bright colors with deep blacks. I have the Nexus-S 4G so I am familiar with this style screen, I know the S2 is the next gen version. But the resolution is just not right for such a large screen, it does look pixelated, and a little blocky. I can see once the new phones come out this Fall with the new 1280x800 res screens, the S2 will look very dated, like a HDTV next to a normal TV.

Bottom line, I think the S2 is a great phone, but only for those with old phones that need an upgrade from two years ago, if you have a phone from the last year or so; EVO 4G, Nexus-S, there is no point to upgrade, just wait there are much better devices coming, and coming very soon.

My overall opinion is that, yes the S2 is cool, but it seems late to the party, and that it will be eclipsed by better devices very fast. Not next year, but in the next couple of months. Samsung should have brought this to the U.S. back in April like the international version, but now 5 months later, I just can't confidently purchase this device, with knowing what is coming so soon this Fall.

I haven't seen any lag...you wanna see lag the photon that i had before the SG2 lagged like crazy swiping through homescreens

Meanwhile I will enjoy the heck out of my Epic Touch. Cheers. :D

You may be right. But all the tech sites I read have been listing those same specs for over a month now for the new Nexus-Prime. I think it will be very close to that. And if true I much rather spend my money on that device than the S II.

All those sites were reporting that Verizon was getting GSII so don't read to much into them.
V GSII forums were opening champagne toasting then got smacked in the head due to bad info

I just walked out of the sprint store and this phone doesn't live up to the hype. It is thin and light but I thought the colors on the phone were washed out. I even went to the settings and tweaked them and even at the highest setting the screen was much dimmer than my evo.

Where I really noticed the colors was on human skin. I pulled up ESPN.com on both the gs2 ad then my evo and the gs2 peyton Manning's skin was very reddish on the gs2 and on my evo it looked normal. The resolution on my evo also seemed better. Now I do have my phone rooted and the miui rom installed which has very clean graphics; there are also has some screen enhancements built into the rom.

I just don't get what all this hype about the super amoled screens is about. I expected to be wowed by the new technology but walked out of the store disappointed.

Did you try changing the display settings? I'm guessing the demo phone was set to Dynamic under Settings, Display, Screen Mode.

I think for those of us who are ready to upgrade, it would be a waste of time to wait an indefinite amount of time on an unverified fantasy phone that may or may not come to Sprint and may or may not come to Sprint until next year. Besides, a lot of us already bypassed the Evo 3D and Photon waiting for the Galaxy 2 to hit Sprint, mostly because the rumors at the time were end of July. We're not going to wait anymore.

Note that every Nexus phone has had problems of their own. So it's not a lock by any means that the Nexus Prime will actually be better than the Epic Touch. Oftentimes, being the first of it's kind means it's the unit that has the most problems out of the box.

It has not escaped my attention that most (all?) of the unimpressed posters all own current phones. If I owned an Evo 3D or Bionic or Photon right now, I would not even consider getting the Epic Touch. But I have a rapidly aging Evo 4G that ready for pasture. It's time for me. No more waiting.

I tried out the GSII today its pretty nice, my wife has a one year upgrade and is currently using her OG evo which is in pretty bad shape. I compared it to my EVO 3D and I really liked the size of the screen. The only thing I did notice was the whites were not white at all, and I don't know if certain people can see pixels better than others or not but I noticed them right away. Granted I was comparing it to my Evos qhd screen. My screen was definitely sharper, but the colors were amazing and phone was ridiculously light! I prefer a sharper screen though but my wife definitely likes the colorful screen not to mention, and I'm not ashamed to admit it, superior camera! Has anyone traded in there EVO for this. if so how much did you get for it and where?

Oh, come on. You don't seriously think Verizon "failed" to get this phone? They passed on it, pure and simple. We will soon know why.

I ended up going to a Sprint store and picking up the E4GT after deciding not to deal with the ever lengthening ETA from Lets Talk.

And it's f***ing great.

And to those who are talking about the phone lagging, I'm calling you out because after playing around for it this evening, there is no perceptible lag. This phone is a beast and wonderfully well made, and without those annoying build quality issues of the Evo 4G (light leakage at the bottom of the phone, ill-fitting battery cover).

So far, so good!

those that say there was lag did you check task manager to see if it had all of the apps running or something? Or maybe the store demo was defected. I opened up 5 apps and left them running. Played third blade flawless... i have my screen set to movie in the display settings. It has been posted before that the blacks on these screens are much richer and the whites weren't as much.

the OP has been going back and forth with phone choices and has the right to but IMO the OP always sounded negative towards this phone to begin with. It could just be me but that's how i felt every time i read any of the post.

This phone is worth trying out. If you don't like it then take it back but base your judgement on real usage not in store viewing. In store viewing to me is like when you buy a pair of shoes. you know they fit at the store but how will your feet feel in them after a full days use.

Like many of you I own and have played with many phones. I love big screens and really simple hardware. I'm not interested in hdmi out or a dedicated camera button. The simpler the better. I also am not a fan of higher res screens if at the end of the day they are hard to read because the type is too small (EVO 3D). A good camera is really important to me. Speed is also really important There is something about having lag that drives me nuts no matter how trivial it may be. The iPhone really has this one nailed for the most part. I think sprint's S2 is my favorite phone of all time. It just feels right and I don't think it will feel old in 6 months or a year. Dual core and lots of ram really help with the lag. Going from 1.2 to 1.5 in mhz is not going to make much difference to the experience. Nor is upping the ram above 1gb at this point. What is really needed is that dual core to off load all those background tasks so they don't interfere wit the fluidity of the foreground on screen activity which is presumably dedicated to one core. That's my two cents. Having said all this I probably will return the phone within the first two weeks and stick with AT&T because sprint's 3g speeds suck...

I traded in my 4G at Best Buy. Got $132 - 135, I don't recall the exact number. It was in perfect condition and I didn't feel like dealing with eBay. Sprint was only going to give me $85 for it.

I'm guessing sprint will get whatever the next nexus is late which, considering the fact sprint's new terms required gold Members to use their upgrade by year's end, made my decision for me.

OK, second day with S2, great phone. Great phone and 4g and Wifi do not whack my network. As I said before I could not use my Photo on Wifie or 4G in my house, it would drop my wife and I off line for our desktops. Sprint didn't have an answer. That was not a big problem for me because when I am in the house I rarely use the Photon for surfing web, use desktop or laptop.

I choose the S2 for many more reasons and still don't regret my decision, the compatibility of the S2 WiFi and my home network is just another bonus. The screen is a lot better and light weight is very cool. Again the only problem is the headset volume, regular sound is OK on phone. Strange, I'm sure there will be a solution and I can live with it till then.

I am impressed with battery useage, I think it seems better than Photon. Again, I loved the Photon so you can image how happy I am with S2. :)

Just got back from a Sprint store to play around with one until I get my phone hopefully next week (letstalk backordered). It was a very nice phone. I can't see how anyone would go and take a look at the phone and based on this, pass on it. Very fast and smooth all around. I was afraid it might seem too big but that definitely wasn't an issue. The only complaints I could see were:

the salesman booted up the first-person shooter game that comes with the phone and it never loaded - just sat at a blank screen. I'm not buying this for games, but it still seemed odd.

The whites were washed out a bit. The brightness may have been down since we were indoors and the phone wasn't attached to a charger so maybe they wanted it to last throughout the day.

I am even more pumped to get my phone - this really does seem like the future as far as smartphones are concerned.
