Thanks for posting Gekko. I already had the Mail Checker plus but wasn't aware of the Contacts and Calendar one. Just installed them now. Anything to make my life just a little bit easier haha ;)

Wait what you're using safari?! Chrome FTW! I'd rather use IE than Safari LOL.

I also use the Google Voice extension.

Have you guys played with the AppStore yet?
https://chrome.google.com/webstore

I like how Tweetdeck looks a lot more like the Android version, I'm close to ditching the Air version.

i love the Chrome Extensions but have not been that impressed with the Chrome Apps in the Store yet. i downloaded and kept the Gmail and Calendar Apps so far but for the most part - they are redundant. perhaps as the Chrome Apps and Store evolves from its nascent beginnings i will find some more value there. but for the most part - i'm a minimalist - and prefer to keep my devices running as light as possible with as few apps and tweaks and widgets as needed.

IMO the Chrome appstore blurs the lines a bit between ChromeOS and Android - I'm a little curious about what apps/extensions I'll have available if I log into a random ChromeOS device. I thought the idea of ChromeOS was neat, nothing saved to the hard drive and everything in the cloud - borrow a friend's computer and it works exactly the same way yours does. I wonder if the Chrome apps break that model. I do like the ChromeOS philosophy of not trusting apps and not trusting the user - fantastic for my mom and father-in-law. I know I'm blurring the lines between ChromeOS and Chrome Browser, but I think the lines are already pretty blurry :)

Maybe I'll have to experiment with Chrome on another PC or load up a VM with Hexxeh's latest ChromeOS build.

Still, like you, I don't find most apps very useful (I don't even see a need for some extensions that you like!). The only app I like on Chrome is Tweetdeck because it means I don't need to install AIR.

For those who enjoy the news, the NY Times App from the Chrome appstore is great, and pretty customizable too.

the Google Mail Checker Plus Extension is critical because it makes Outlook, Thunderbird, and all other stand-alone email apps obsolete and unnecessary.

any time that i can reduce the number of applications i need to use - the better. being able to do almost everything from the Chrome Browser is a beautiful thing.

I use OneNumber for that, but it's a bit of overkill now that Wave is dead :( Still, it also tells me when there's a Google Voice message waiting. I've noticed I rarely rely on it anymore, instead I use my X's flashing green LED as an email notifier for pretty much any communication.

I do agree that not needing to set up Thunderbird or (yuck!) Evolution is a big plus and if any extension gets you over that hump it's worth a fortune!
