Chrome browser really lags, what are you using?

No issues on my Nexus 7 either. Maybe you all need to reset device? I have actually found the experience remarkably smooth and fast. Maybe I got lucky?

I thought Chrome provided a very bad user experience. Switched within the first hour or two. I haven't really settled on a replacement yet. Trying Opera today. meh

Okay, I found the best browser so far. X Scope. Scrolling is pretty good, pinch to zoom is quite good, the UI is like a darker version of chrome, it has ICS Holo theme, and it is a nifty gesture for navigating forward and back between pages. This has now been set as my default browser until I find something better if you guys post some new findings.

This is an interesting thread. Chrome on my Nexus 7 for me has been laggy in only two areas.
1) when I am replying to posts in forums like here. (I am using my work laptop - don't tell)
2) when trying to select my bookmark webpages from the browser. A few times a day i have to repeatedly press the bookmark to get the Nexus 7 to register the touch. Even though it acknowledges the touch by lighting up. I have had to hit it 3-5 times before.
That is pretty annoying.
I may try dolphin again, but to be honest I never liked the style of it on my Galaxy Nexus and the whole reason I use/like chrome is the ability to sync with my home browser.
I already have 4.1.1, maybe there is a 4.1.x coming sometime to fix Jellybean?

Fwiw... I'm running the CM10 Kang now on my Tablet and (as it should) it comes with the stock browser, no Chrome. So happy. Stock browser eats Chrome for breakfast.

I know that the non-unlocking/rooting crowd won't be impressed, lol.. but if anyone here likes flashing stuff, I made a thread in the Rooting section for the ROM.

Yeah I am getting dangerously close to rooting the thing. Lol. I think what makes me so sad, is I really love the look of the Chrome browser on the Nexus 7. The tablet UI is beautiful. But its just not smooth enough.

Danger does not belong in that sentence :)

Rooting and unlocking is easy and fun... we have plenty of resources to walk you through it, save you if you get in trouble, and a team of smart people to provide extra help if you get lost.

I just downloaded Dolphin HD and put the view settings to iPad since it didn't offer an android tablet option. I'm already noticing vast improvements on sites like Facebook. I can't believe Chrome lagged to the extent it did. Go Dolphin!!:)

It is weird how Chrome can lag, does it on my S3 too. I still prefer the standard Android browser and Dolphin. Chrome needs to be updated for performance, no reason it should lag like it does.

Yeah its crazy. It bothers me a bit because reviewers think Jelly bean still has lag because of the browser and its really just chrome.

Oh and I don't want to sound like a know it all, but I have rooted my own fare share of devices. My Verizon GNex right now is running 4.1.1 Bug less Beast as we speak. I dread rooting my Nexus 7 only because I don't want to reorganize my hmescreen lol.

I like the added features of Chrome but the AOSP browser is a lot faster from what I've seen.

Chrome on my Nexus 7 completely destroys the user experience for me. It's suttery, hurts my eyes when I look at the screen while scrolling. Wish I could get the stock browser, like on my Galaxy Nexus. Chrome is also slow to respond at times, and stutters badly. Why did Google take something that works well and replace it with something that feels like it's in alpha?

Using Dolphin HD now.

As it says in the title, Chrome lags terribly and I am pretty shocked they shipped Chrome with the nexus 7 especially because the Stock Android browser is so good. Also, and few people know this, Google actually made a ton of improvements to the stock android browser in Jellybean. Its way smoother in scrolling and pinch to zoom than Chrome and I actually get a progress bar so I know how far a long a page has loaded.

Anyway, my question is. For those of you not using Chrome, what browser are you using on your new Nexus 7 or any tablet for that matter? What is a great browser for a tablet?

I'm currently using Dolphin HD which is okay but pinch to zoom doesn't work.

Chrome does have a progress bar. It's a VERY thin blue line just under the URL box. I'm having a lot of rendering problems when zooming, but haven't noticed much lag. Why is Google not focusing on one browser for android? Seems odd. Gmail also has issues. Still has some major bugs, like discarding drafts and losing entire conversation thread. It's hard to understand why either app made it out of beta.

I'm lazy I just use the stock browser which is decent on jellybean. Pinch to zoom works fine and I'm too use to quickcontrols now.

Anyone who says they aren't having lag issues on Chrome should load and try to navigate an article on BGR: The Three Biggest Letters In Tech and you'll see what those with lag issues are talking about.

No lag at all. Tried both mobile and desktop versions and it was smooth sailing. I see a lot of posts around about S3 lag and it's related to user setup 99% of the time. Meaning phone settings along with what's installed and running in background.

Ughh, Don't ever subject anyone to that joke of a website...

That being said. The Verge is virtually unusable in chrome. So much so that I had to just stop visiting it while using my nexus.
