Chromecast now can play local content!

I was excited to find Chromecast support in Avia... finally a use for my Chromecast!!!!

Well that is until I upgraded to the Avia Pro app and tried to use it. I have a DLNA server running and I can see the content via the Avia app on my n4. The m4a, mkv and mp4 files play just fine on my phone. However they refuse to play on my Chromecast, all I get is the "unsupported format" message from the Chromecast.

I do the same, and it works fine. I start Avia on my tablet, select the video, as it's starting, I hit the "cast" icon in Avia...and the play just fine. Do make sure your Chrome cast has the latest build. It should be 14975

Thanks, I'll check the version and make sure it updated itself. I'll also try this on my Nexus 7 (2012). I need to dig up some more video files to try as well.

I also have the Avia Pro version and it plays my mp4 and mkv from my Nexus 7 (2012) and my HTC Rezound with no problem. I stream from my DLNA server also. So, Chromecast and Avia works perfectly for me.

What DLNA server are you running Legobricke? I have avia and it works really great on on the Local media on my phone. It finds all my media on my network and plays it on the phone. It however will not cast any of my pictures or videos on the network. It will play all my network music however and cast it to my phone. I am just using Windows media player and enablling file sharing on my media files. Once again Avia is finding all my stuff and playing it but wont chromecast network files other than music.

I was wondering what DLNA server you are using? I really dont want to pay monthly for plex. I have heard avia can find your DLNA files if you have the free version of Plex and play them. I saw a youtube video that confirmed that for me. I was wondering if that was how you are casting all your media using Avia to find your plex media and plex is transcribing it for Avia that way? I was also wondering if avia would find XBMC media and if that would be a work around for this issue?

While it can now cast local content why does the wifi network have to have internet connection? I travel for work with a portable wifi router(hotel wifi don't work) thinking I could create my own non-internet connected network to cast local content from phone to Chromecast using Avia. Chromecast does not like not having an internet connection. Chromecast does not work at all when the wifi network it is connected to does not have internet connection. Why? It should allow local network functionality.

I just activate it in windows media player 11. It then allowed A via to see the files and everything has been smooth.

I haave the note 3 and i am only getting sound. No video. I have 2 chromecast and tried allcast, avia, , and castaway. Nothing worked. Any advice would be appreciated.
