Chromecast wont find router

I have a chromecast that I bought for a room that the router isnt in. (my bedroom) it starts up ok but it wont connect to the router, I wonder if its because theres a wall between it. ? I can use the internet in the bedroom so it seems strange to me. Any help would be appreciate.

Is it (the router) set up on 2.4ghz or 5.0ghz?

i'm not ccertain how can you tel , its a virginmedia superhub

I had a similar thing my bedroom has **** poor signal strength. Try setting it up in the room with your router, then taking it to the room you want it. Worked for me.
