I am trying to install a new rom on my fascinate, I flashed the clockworkmod recovery 3.0.0.8 but when I try to do a back up of my current system it doesn't work. It takes me to a boot screen and gives me the error E: failed to verify whole-file signature" I can scroll down to apply sd card update zip wipe data/factoryreset wpe cache partition I tried auto and rebooting to recovery neither is working. Any ideas? This is my first try I am sure you can tell LOL I am sure it is something stupid I am missing. rom manager should back up the stock system shouldn't it? I looked at the guide thread but couldn't find an answer there.

isn't that the Orange clockwork mod version? Use the one posted on hundreds of threads across this site that is clockwork mod 2.5.1.x for all. Red Recovery is what works with these ROMs / Kernels.

I'll let you do the searching, should not take long.

Need help plz!! Can't install roms

ok, i'm rooted with 2.2.1 froyo, working cwm. i've tried to install the voodoo lag fix and super clean rom, all to no avail. it goes through the paces, when i'm in nandroid set up, i select install zip from sdcard. it fails everytime, no matter what i do. i'm also running the newest clockworkmod 3.0.0.8

i'm lost, i just got the fascinate(traded my droid x and got the fascinate and $200 cash for my X....lol) i'm really not a newb to rooting and custom roms, but i've tried everything. anyone else having problems like these? i would really like to just get Voodoo working with a decent OC. i have setcpu already, just need a kernal that will work with 2.2.1

right now i'm using the stock kernal 2.6.32.9

any and all help will be great and thanks in advanced

First of all, there are no OC or UV kernels available yet. We don't have the kernel source, so we can't do any modding to the kernel until we get it.

Also you cant use clockwork 3.x it is not compatible with anything developed for the fascinate as of yet

you need to flash
cwm 2.x with Odin

Installing CWM ALL instructions and downloads

  1. Download and intsall the Fascinate drivers found HERE
  2. Download the ODIN file HERE
  3. If your phone is plugged into your computer, unplug it now.
  4. If your phone is not powered down, power it down now.
  5. Remove battery from phone.
  6. Launch ODIN on PC.
  7. Plug USB cable into phone.
  8. Plug your Fascinate into the PC via USB cable.
  9. Press and hold the volume-down key.
  10. You should now see a gigantic yellow triangle and your phone will be in download mode. You can now release the volume key.
  11. Click on the PDA button in ODIN. Do NOT click the Phone button.
  12. Choose the file cwm-recovery-ALL.tar which can be downloaded HERE
  13. When all the above conditions have been met hit the Start button

thanks everyone, apparently i forgot how to use the "SEARCH" button,..lol..sry about that, i did flash that with oden, but booted me back to the stock recovery....yup, i think i just bricked my phone....this sux

edit* ---maybe i didn't, i was able to get to the orange cwm where i actually made a back up. i'm in it now, and looks like its restoring for me.....hope it does...

ok, new problem, now my phone's internal storage, is now 0!!! omg this thing is striking a nerve, plus i'm getting a bunch of fc's

I still can't get my ea28 to back up I am about to do a factory reset and start over with super clean 2.9 through Odin. Anyone have a better idea?

I tried flashing with ODIN but whenever I load back up the CWM version on the top of screen says 3.0.1.3. When I go down to "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" and select 2.5.1.4 or any other 2.5.x.x version I get the message "An error occurred while downloading your recovery."

Is there something that I did wrong? I download the free version from the market and flashed it with ODIN file found on XDA forum. I am on Froyo SC2.8 if that helps.

Free version of what from the market? Rom Manager? DO NOT touch that anymore. Every time you try to flash recovery through Rom Manager it overwrites the cwm-all file. Flash the cwm-all file from DroidXcon's post in ODIN again, don't touch Rom Manager and you will be fine. DO NOT boot to recovery through Rom Manager. Only boot to recovery by holding the power button for about two seconds and choosing recovery from the menu that appears or by holding the volume up, volume down, and power buttons at the same time until you see the samsung logo flash for a second time. As soon as you see it appear on the screen for the second time let go of all three buttons. Use those either of those two methods after you have flashed cwm-all in ODIN and you will be fine.

Copy and paste :D

CWM ALL:is fully functional clockwork recovery that does not require update.zip, it will boot into clockwork directly without going through stock recovery.Installation requries Odin, there are other ways but they require much more work and knowledge of adb. But for this tutorial i will only provide instructions for odin

Installing CWM ALL instructions and downloads

  1. Download and intsall the Fascinate drivers found HERE
  2. Download the ODIN file HERE

  12. Choose the file cwm-recovery-ALL.tar which can be downloaded HERE
  13. When all the above conditions have been met hit the Start button

Entering clockwork recovery ALL
With the phone off press and hold Volume up+Volume down+Power button.
Samsung logo will flash twice, after the second one let go of the buttons.
This will lead you into clockwork.
