ROM mgr & CwM Recovery

First of all, Thanks to all for giving me a reason to keep this phone.
To my problem... I've installed ROM Mgr and CWM Recovery. I go to ROM Mgr, and select "Install ROM from SD card" then "StupidFast_v1.0.36.zip". ROM Pre-Installation pops up and I check both backup and wipe and click "OK". Reboot and Install to access CWM Recovery and continue, "OK" Phone reboots into CWM Recovery... then counts down 20 times the following:

Waiting for SD Card to Mount (#s) [# being the count down 20 - 1]
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Device or resource busy)
Timed out waiting for SD card... continuing anyways.ROM Manager Version 2.5.0.7
Preparing to install ROM...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Device or resource busy)
Can't mount /sdcard
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Device or resource busy)

I am surely missing something, but I'm don't know what. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Found my own answer!

I needed the premium version of ROM mgr to get all the ROM mgr features. Still need to learn how to use it though. Got a 7:40 tee time, will work on it later.:(

Spinwizard, is your SDCard otherwise working? It seems like it is not able to mount on reboot. When you do this, are you plugged in to a PC?

Thanks guys, for the help. Yes and no. I've tried it both ways. However, good news! I powered down, removed the battery, the SD card, then reinstalled both. Entered CwM Recovery manually (while not plugged in). Selected "apply sdcard:update.zip" Then "choose zip from sdcard" and then chose StupidFast_v1.0.36.zip and this time it worked "Install form sdcard complete. I may not have needed the premium ROM Mgr. but I do think it was worth the $$, I'll never know. But I finally got the StupidFast installed.
btw, The SD card was mounting and taking uploads bfore all this, so I assumed it was working. So thank you both for the prompt to check it.

My phone is connecting to Odin and the yellow box appears but when I push start the message box starts working but stops and just says SetupConnection.... and doesn't change. I don't think it's my drivers because I just rooted my phone just fine.

odin is only seeing my fascinate when it is booted. it does not see it in recovery mode. i have the latest drivers.

..sweet advice

So, I did exactly as was dictated here, odin, download mode, cwm tar, said pass. phone rebooted. Stuck 100 percent at samsung loading screen. Tried factory reset after a while, did nothing. Am now trying to reflash the odin kernels for stock, and if that doesn't work, my phone was bricked by your guide. Good stuff

edit: Flashed the stock roms, everything is spam force closing and it's not even for the right provider :). Thanks gents. Hey flash this mod we have a link to, it will break your phone.

This isn't an issue with Clockwork, at least I don't think it is as it seems to have worked like it should. The problem seems to be with Rom Manager, whenever I try to do a back up I get the message:

E: failed to seek in /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E: signature verification failed
Operation aborted.

I haven't installed any other roms, I just wanted to do a backup before I did anything else.

edit- All good, Got everything to work and currently running JT's super clean rom with dark gloss.

I did this before, Now I can't seem to do it this time. The problem is that I can not get the phone into download mode. Pushing in on the volume down button isn't do anything.

Any suggestions.... do I need to be rooted to do this?

Never mind, forgot I had to pull battery and plug in the usb cable.

Hi I performed the procedure at page 1 with Odin, but it stopped and said Compete(Write)operation failed, the phone did'nt reboot. I repeated the procedure and Odin said All threads completed, but the phone is not working anymore!!!! A phone icon and a computer icon appeared; I had to unplug the battery to shut down the phone. Now when I try to turn on the device only a Sansung screen appear and the device doesn't boot anymore!!!! Please Help me!!!!

Odin stuck on "<ID:0/005> SetupConnection..", nothing for quite a while. Wondering what to do next.

Thanks.

Spoke too soon. I figured it out. - Thanks.

download mode?

I'm having a little bit of trouble getting into download mode. I'm a little bit confused on how to get into download mode. I do a normal power down of my device then I only hold the down button on the volume rocker. But when I do this nothing has happened. I've tried holding the power button and down button on the volume rocker but still no success.

Am I missing something here?

Nandroid

I really apologize if i'm about to completely repeat what someone else already asked, but I rooted my phone, did all the Odin stuff, cwm and then I went into to reboot into recovery in ROM manager, because I wanted to create a nandroid back up, and i went into back up/restore (or something along those lines) and clicked back up, is this now a nandroid back up?

Thanks, I would probably be stuck with an octane if it wasn't for you guys.

I get it flashed, or at least i think i do. Odin says reset and then ends with pass. in the message box it says competed and all threads completed (succeeded 1 / failed 0) yet instead of restarting it goes to the battery charging. When i try to turn it on it just goes back in forth between t959 to samsung forever and it never loads up. The only thing i can think of is my phone WILL NOT go in download mode without the battery in. I have to have the battery in to hold volume down and then plug usb in and only then will it go into download mode. It says the flash passed however the phone will not reset or start up... please help

**edit** okay after a very long and frustrating night I was able to find the stock froyo files for the telus fascinateand I was able to flash back to stock. I would like to try again but does anyone know what to do to fix this? I tried the same thing about a month back and the same thing happened. I thought I bricked the phone so I bought a new one :o....I reflashed that one last night too and gave it to my Fiancee this smorning lol she **** her pants to find out she doesn't have to ask me for my fascinate all the time now..but that's a different storey lol.. can anyone help me?

Thanks, Mike.

I'm on DI09 and want to flash my first rom using cwm. I have read in 1 forum that you can't change builds but to me that makes on sense, since build numbers change as they release newer ones. Am I going to have issues going to a rom with a different build?
Thanks

After using Odin3 to install the clockworkmod recovery, My SD card inside of ROM Manager says I need to mount the SD Card first. How can I mount my SD Card? Android is telling me "Blank External SD card" and then asks if I want to format and I say yes, but nothing happens. Help a noob to the android community out.

The exact error message in ROM Manager is:SD Card Not Mounted the sd card needs to be mounted to use ROM Manager.

Edit: Also, the SD Card I am using is the stock 16GB Samsung SD card that came with the phone. I did however try a 4GB card and it picked up, and I was able to install the clockworkmod through the rom manager, but when I select boot to recovery nothing happens...Is there a way for me to just undo the clockworkmod that I uploaded through Odin?
