Closing Apps on Cover screen

I notice when i swipe UP an APP running on cover screen it doesnt fully close the app.Still need to open Flip and close them from home screen.

I had a scanner app with audio on cover screen I thought by swiping up closed it, but no still had audio running till I open phone and closed app.
No big deal, just want to be sure I not missing a step.
