CM7 for EVO 3D Alpha

Also rely heavily on bluetooth.

Same here. I have bluetooth phone and audio in my car and CM7 kept rebooting everytime it connects. I could live without WiMax though. It's sporadic at best and it's 100% useless at work since I'm in a building.

Why don't you guys just install CleanRom while you wait? I had CM7 for my last phone but when I got my EVO 3D I figured I would just install ClenRom while CM7 got finished.... but now that I have it... I actually like CleanRom WAY better than I liked CM7. Right now I could care less what they do with CM7... I am sold 100% on this Rom! Everything works on it! 3d stuff. wifi, 4G, everything!

I'm using CleanROM 2.8 and it is excellent! My post on the previous page was just to point out that while something might not work for one person, it may be a viable option for someone else. :) That is the beauty of Android and rooting and having the freedom to choose what you want to do to your device.

"Why don't you guys just install CleanRom while you wait?"

I have.. it gets rid of some of the BS, but it still has Sense strewn throughout, HTC's random processes no matter what, and just poor bluetooth and battery life overall. Removing a few things from stock doesn't make it a rom without HTC's stuff

for me, the deal breaker is Caller ID requires an unlock. Rendering it kinda useless for me (ok, it's not useless, but I find the annoyance not worth the effort, especially since sense is still there).

I couldn't care less about 4G because it's mostly useless for me as well. Though, at this point, I may just be waiting to get whatever official thing HTC does with ICS

Got to disagree with you here, since installing cleanrom my battery has been improved drastically.

CleanROM may have better battery than Stock HTC EVO 3D, but it would be even better without any HTC stuff.

Huh? requires an unlock? I am not sure what you mean I guess? I have this Rom on my phone and my caller ID works just as it always did. And my 4G works... EVERYTHING works like I said flawlessly. Bluetooth... everything. The ONLY difference I see is that I have wifitether now and more room on my phone.

Well I actually switched from CleanRon to Senseless for that reason. I mean CleanRom was amazing and I do not notice any benefits from switching to a Rom with Sense removed... but as I never used the Sense stuff, I just got rid of it.

And my Bluetooth seems to work as well as it ever did and I don't notice a change in battery except for possibly a longer life (makes sense as there are less process running). Everything on my phone seems to work 100% as stock only better. I can not personally think of anything that does not work.

I am not a CleanRom or Senselss junkie... I hold no loyalty. I wanted CM7 but as that seemed to have a million problems I tried CleanRom and find it to be every bit as good as the CM7 was on my last phone? I can't tell a difference anyway.

Well, Bluetooth works on the stock/Clean EVO 3D roms. It just isn't very good in terms of quality.

I've had a Nexus One, EVO 3D, and run mostly with a Nexus S now. The EVO 3D sounds horrible in my car, which has a very nice stereo that has bluetooth audio. It's not even some subtle difference, I think HTC's bitrate is so low that it ruins most music.

It definitely sounded better when I had a custom rom that was based more on AOSP. It definitely sounded fine. There's something HTC does in their software stack that kills the BT sound.

Hmmm... my last phone was a Samsung Optimus S (same car and stereo) and I don't notice any difference in sound quality? But I know with the CleamRom you have an option to install Beats Audio? I don't know it that will help if it is truly the bit-rate. Doesn't HTC get some of the best ratings on CNET for audio though?

Ford Taurus with Synch, and the bluetooth audio is fine here. I am running CleanRom. So these last few posts might be a bit off topic,so lets get things back on track: anything new out of the CM7 camp? I know I have been missing CM7 ever since I went to the 3d.

Some dude on XDA made his own KANG that's based off CM alpha. I haven't bothered to check it out though. I expect a CM9 alpha to be ready in the next week or so though, based on what kmobs and toast keep saying.

Yeah the Kang is pretty much in the same state as Alpha 2 by Toast and the gang. Kmobs and Toast have said a lot if things are done but they haven't said when. KMobs is more like me impatient and like whatever 80% works let's fly with this bad boy. Toast is one of those rare people who is not only talented, but modest, and a perfectionist. I wouldn't hold my breath for a week or two. However when it's done it will be glorious!.

If you'd like a taste of ICS download a senseless rom (not aosp) install the ICS launcher and keyboard and enjoy. Only two "problems" incoming calls must be unlocked to awnser (thanks rosie) and the ICS keyboard is so good if your like me you wasted your money on Swift Key X. I LIKE the ICS stock keyboard and i've been on every android update (minus honeycomb) since 1.5 on my hero c.

I'm not actually itching to try ICS (I have a Nexus S) but I DO want to get rid of one of these phones. There's some things that aren't perfect about ICS on the Nexus S (RAM and CPU seems to be an issue when browsing, going from browsing to home, and task switching), so I'm trying to see if the 3D can eliminate those issues.

We'll see.. AOSP never came through for GB sadly but I'm hoping ICS can happen. The 3D will be a great phone if it can get a good, complete CM build.

Hrm, does it have a better predictive text engine? That's my biggest draw for swiftkey. And I certainly don't see it as a waste while I wait for ICS, heh. Makes my phone even more effortless to use.

Though, I want to give swype another try, but I can't seem to get used to it. and we can't install the latest betas.

Took me about a week to get swype down (and I can't even type) and now I FLY when I text. Even faster than talking. I recommend trying to get good at it... the learning curve is not too steep.

I use SlideIT though once I got good at swyping. I think SwipeIT is better... seems to predict the words better for me. And other better functions too I think.
