Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

I think we should gather up and go give Google a visit and demand the release of the Nexus One today.

After thinking about it for quiet some time, I have decided to stay with getting the Nexus One and pass on keeping my Droid Eris. What kept bugging me was if you put the Eris and the Droid side by side there really is no difference other then physical look. .......blah, blah,blah..... So long ferniesp enjoy your Droid and your golf game.

Boy, aren't we a bit testy today? Cut me some slack, we are in the same Android family. We have to stick together. LOL

Being serious, I didn't give up on the Nexus in the context that you imply. I just think that over the next few months, you are going to see more Androids pop up which will make the Nexus obsolete. What I gave up is the constant lurking in the background for information about this or that for any kind of phone, present and future.

Peace

:)

funny how if you to to verizon's page now - the countdown for the BOGO sale isn't there anymore. looks like more rumors being shot down once again

One reason to choose the Nexus over a Droid is that Verizon just now, pushing the 2.1 update to the Droid, what took so long?

This actually may be our answer! If Verizon has approved 2.1 on it's own device, maybe, just maybe it will give it's blessing to the Nexus 2.1.

my thinking exactly. The rumor was that 2.1 was held until they could get Skype working. If Droid 2.1 comes out, then Nexus 2.1 can't be far behind.

This is actually one of the things that I thought: that Verizon would never allow the Droid to have an OS lower than another device that they sell, so that was one of the things delaying the Eris 2.1 update - how could they sell the Droid for more money w/ 2.0.1 in the stores with the Eris sitting next to it running 2.1 for less money. While I know that Verizon will not be selling the Nexus 1 in their shops, I still think that they do not want to put any sort of market drag on the Droid right now - it is their flagship device, and perhaps they even guaranteed Motorola a certain sales level in exchange for market development costs (to pay for ads, displays, the BOGO, etc.) VZW would not want to provide service to the N1 so long as the Droid was still a version behind.

So, perhaps the Droid 2.1 upgrade (if it is finally happening) is good news for those who lust after a VZW N1 and we Eris users patiently (and not so patiently) waiting for the 2.1 upgrade OTA.

I am sorry for getting anyones hopes up the the Nexus One might come out today.....I am going to shelve that idea now until next Tuesday. I really was hopingt though.......

:)

I'll just say this...right now, I have the Eris. It's an awesome device but I'll more than likely return it for a faster phone. Not dogging the Eris, but I just want something that's faster and also a better camcorder. I don't know what the deal is with the N1 but if it's not out by the 9th of April, then screw it. I'll either get the Incredible (if it's out by then) or I'm getting the Moto Droid. The N1 looks cool and the specs are on point, by I refuse to keep waiting for the damn thing to come out when there are other cool phones on the market.

Updated: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

There wasn't really a thread yet dedicated to Verizon nexus one rumors so I figured I would make one. Over the past couple of weeks there has been so many rumors that have happened.

Old Rumors
1. The release of the Nexus One on March 23
2. Some information or release date or anything at CTIA
3. Early April Release Date
4. Senses UI or No Sense UI
5. The phone is only going to be sold at google.com and Verizon will only provide service

New Rumors

6. Within the next week or 2 verizon should release some details about the Nexus One
7.Leaked video showing google website pricing the nexus one at $199.00 through subsidized price
8. According to JKontherun a verizon representative said that we should wait for it and be ready to be surprised

My thoughts have always been that google hasn't made this phone just to show the world you don't have to buy a phone though a phone company. I do think google wants their phone to become just like apple did with the iphone and have it become a huge it. Google knows that verizon is the biggest carrier and can really sell the nexus one. So according to what JKontherun said it agreed with what I thought. I figured google released the nexus one more as a beta for the other companies and now went back and fixed issues people complained about.

My thoughts of Rumors
1.Probably have upgraded the screen and fixed some software issues. I always thought they were gonna fix that before releasing it on verizon
3. Possibly fixing the trackball. Upgrading it for optical pad instead
2.Selling it in stores is up for grabs. If the incredible wasn't being sold at verizon I would say it was going to be sold in stores but now I have no idea. I would like to think google is going to sell it in stores to actually increase the sales because they want to compete with iPhone

If you guys have anything to add or want to tell me my ideas are ridiculous go ahead. Let the rumors pile up

Not really a rumor but I've been wondering this for awhile. Will GPS and voice work at the same time?

I just imagine myself using the GPS feature and having a call come in and I lose the GPS right when I need it.

It should, doesn't Google Nav cache the route in case you wander outside of data coverage?

i think the incredible will be the nexus one - doesnt make sense that there will be two phones so similar released around the same time

Ya I agree. Has anyone thought that this whole incredible/nexus one thing could all be about the same phone? The incredible could just be google's code name for the phone or something. I have a feel that possibly it could be the same phone and google is fixing all the mistakes with it and releasing it in stores. Just a thought. Would be amazing if true.

I am pretty sure google with write something in the software to allow google Nav to run while also answering a phone call. Once multi-tasking starts to function better

Doubtful, the latest leaked photos of the HTC Incredible shows a Verizon branded phone. The Google Nexus One, won't be.

Unless Google changes their entire marketing model, adds Verizon branding, HTC Sense, and allows the phones to sell in store.

Edit: Not to mention the supposed downclocked processor on the Incredible.
