Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

Yes my friends, I was talking about my Motorola Droid.

I will be playing golf today not standing around staring at my computer all day.

Keep in mind folks, don't ever go by what is spread around in these forums as gospel when it comes to release dates. Verizon/Google can always throw a monkey wrench in anything. It's happened before and it can happen again.

I'll check back here when I finish cutting grass on the golf course..lol.

At this point, I don't think I'm going to believe anything until I see an "add to cart" button next to it. :)

Quoted for truth. I'm tired of anticipating a phone's release date that never follows through. Look at the VZW BlackBerry 9650. I eagerly anticipated each "reliable" release date, but it was never even released. Hence why I'm here now watching the N1 and Incredible. I've been eligible for an upgrade since July and have been sitting on my broken BlackBerry Pearl (and now a temporary Droid Eris).

I don't quite understand why release dates are so lucrative in this industry. HDTVs have pretty firm release dates that are readily available to the public. That's not stopping people from buying a TV today though.

Give me my damn N1 or Incredible so I can forget about phones for another two years. :P

still waiting....the longer they wait the closer its going to get to an iphone 4.0 announcement which may pull me away from getting my first android phone if the N1 is not out on verizon by that time. because you know apple will come strong with 4.0

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Every month they prolong the release the closer we get to a new iPhone. Now I have been strickly a VZW customer, but I have a feeling the new iPhone and OS are gonna be sick and it might make me jump carriers.

You better ask around your area about AT&T first. Here in Houston they fall way behind Verizon for reliability.

Just a thought.

I'm just hoping that all the people that say they will leave VZW because they have waited so long, do. That way when I get my N1 it will be that much faster on VZW with less people.

I would have got an iphone years ago. Only one problem... there's bad at&t coverage here, spotty reception for calls and zero 3G. It will be nice to get the N1 now and have the option to possibly get an verizon iphone later, (if that happens)

Haha. I don't see me leaving vzw for any phone. The evo looks tempting but I'm sure vzw has something similar up their sleeve. And for me its all about coverage and where I'm at the best is vzw. Cause what good is the best phone in the world if you can't use it?

cesjr02- I agree with you, same scenario where I live. at&t voice coverage was great but the 3G was horrible, even on the Iphone.
The evo looks awesome and I would love to have one but the sprint coverage is spotty at best where I live. I would love to go to sprint just to save money each month, evo would make it sweeter.
I am still hoping big red has something awesome for us.

Hope you guys weren't waiting around all day. I had an excellent round of golf. Goes to show you that you can have fun outside these forums.

I stopped lurking and registered just to sarcastically tell you how conducive you are to this thread.

I'm a Sprint Pre user who's looking to jump ship to the Nexus One when it's released for Sprint...I figure that when it's out for Verizon Sprint can't be far behind (or even simultaneous--not really any difference between the two).

Nah, you'll get it before we (VZW) gets it. ;)

My job keeps me on a computer most of the day and doggonit if I'm not checking Android Central and Googling "Nexus One on Verizon" throughout the day. After hearing all the "confirmed" reports of the N1 shipping last week and being prepped for release at the CTIA yadda yadda yadda, I'm a bit disappointed that nothing has happened yet. I'm just hoping that they are fine-tuning it and making very sure it's ready for the Verizon market.

The thought of going elsewhere right now has yet to occur. I'm going to hang in there unless...unless the HTC Evo 4G comes out first.

We'll see.

My guess, and purely a guess, is that we won't see the N1 on Verizon until the Incredible comes out. That way, when folks go to the store to get a N1, Verizon can convert those sales to Incredible sales (have your phone now, no need to wait on shipping, etc).

i heard somewhere they are waiting for the verizon BOGO sale to complete to release the N1 - anyone else here this? BOGO deal ends in 5 days

I was thinking the same thing. There's a countdown on the VZW website that coincides with the end of the month exactly (Eastern Time). So we probably won't see anything until right after that.

However, Google seems to be trying to do their own thing. So potentially, we could see the N1 at any time. So my guess is the Incredible (which will be sold in VZW stores) will be coming out at the beginning of April (after the BOGO deal ends), but the N1, well who knows...
