Confirmed: Verizon Nexus One Cancelled

Well according to the confidentiality letter from HTC to FCC, HTC requested the FCC to keep the product confidential until April 30th 2010...so if it doesn't come by then, at least we'll may have an opportunity to see if anything has change but the radio.

Here's the letter. https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=1242461&native_or_pdf=pdf

Are we sure that's for the Nexus One? It really gives no clues to what phone it's for, and the person that signed it is the "WM Product & Project Manager Dept" - could "WM" mean Windows Mobile?

Whoever knows to to find and read that FCC stuff should be on those files ASAP when they become public. If they show nothing but the radio and related components have changed I think it's fair for us to assume that Froyo is the surprise.

Even after they become public...they probably won't be updated for at least a couple weeks.

I give up. I just unsubscribed from my google alert for the N1 because I was sick of hearing nothing other than the computer generated fluff stories. With the Incredible out and looking amazing, the nexus really holds very little sway over me anymore. I've been waiting since January for the N1 with a horribly crappy backup phone, and now that there is a solid alternative, I'm over it. FroYo does not interest me enough to drag this out any longer, I just want a new phone and then to move on with my life. Google, you blew it.

Just found the original T-Mobile Version confidential letter as well asking for a date of April 30th, so obviously the confidentiality date mean nothing in correlation to release dates.

Relax, it is just a phone......Google has actually kept true to their word. I too have been waiting for the N1 to release but it will not make or break me either way.

Maybe the surprise is that it is not ever coming out.....

By the time this phone comes out it will be so far out of date it will be laughable. May would make what 5 months?

How exactly would it be out of date? It would still be one of the fastest on the market. And hopefully any bugs it has (software or hardware) will be fixed with a CDMA build.

Okay "here I go again".......a little Whitesnake for those old enough to remember and appreciate...

I am willing to wait now until the Google conference in May. They are talking about 2.2 launching with Flash 10.1 and a host of improvements. including:

JIT Compiler
Free Additional RAM
Flash 10.1 Support
Activation of Color Trackball
Enable FM Radio
OpenGL ES 2.0 Enchancements
Cross multitouch resolution fixes

I am happy with my Eris and looking forward to the Nexus One, and not going to jump ship just because the Incredible has launched.

I would rather the N1 come out now and get an OTA in May but I will be happy either way!!!

Chuck this sounds suspect. It's pretty clearly documented that the Nexus's multitouch woes are a product of the screen it uses NOT the software. Also the Nexus is the newest of the android phones that uses a trackball and it seems the last one that'll have one as HTC is drifting to their track pads or whatever they are. In addition unless you mean using memory cards to store apps or unless you're just talking about the Incredible IDK what you mean about freeing up RAM because the Nexus has 512mb and can use every bit of it. I'm curious to know where you got this alleged list of improvements.

Where did you hear these rumors? You find that from cooltechzone? I hope it is all true but I don't really want to wait till mid may to get this phone. I would be happy waiting if I knew what was fixed and when it was launched. But I will be waiting unless it just becomes too long.

And I am pretty sure the surprise isn't that it is coming out because I believe they said it is worth waiting for

Hmm, another month. Consider that 2/3rds of the way through "Spring." It's a possibility but I hope to see it sooner.

I agree it's unlikely google will have their I/O conference before the N1 release, nor without even an announcement.

The Incredible is very compelling at this point. Especially after seeing how fast it is, and accurate and responsive the touchscreen is (as well as no multi-touch issues). It just seems like there's fewer and fewer reasons to hold out. I may pre-order the Incredible tomorrow or Friday. I guess once I get it though, I still have 30 days to return it. But the only way I would do that is if the N1 came out and it was upgraded. Like, better touch screen, maybe faster processor, more internal RAM, etc. Because right now it seems the only reason to hold out for the N1 is for (assumed) faster OS updates. Well, plus I still like the styling of the N1 a little better. But I don't know that that's enough at this point.

-The screen issues are a combination of an older touch pad and poor software implementation. Other similar screens (Droid) do not have the issues, but they DO have an additional software setting that helps prevent the issues.

A closer look at HTC’s touch sensors – Android and Me

-What he was referencing was the fact that the N1 was supposed to have multi-color notifications when it was released. If that is true, it is likely they will be enabled with the software update, as well as with the release of a trackball-equipped verizon version. (unless they go with a trackpad, but that is EXTREMELY unlikely)

-The RAM use comes from the updated Linux kernel. Supposedly it will allow for better use/management of the RAM, which is all due to optimization. This one WILL happen; Google has already confirmed it.

Android 2.2 is coming. What features do you want? – Android and Me

Supposedly many features of the N1 are currently dormant, probably waiting for software to support them. It is not inconceivable that 2.2 will finally allow the N1 to utilize those features.

What is going on in the forums....Last post last night......I think I hear crickets chirping....

I didn't plan to show this but since it's a slow day posts wise.

I photoshopped a few hardware changes to the N1. Personally I like the N1 the way it is but a few slight tweaks never hurt anybody.

Alright, nothing crazy going on here:

Optical track pad, (it would be nice to delete the thing all together for more screen real estate)
dual flash (why not?)
I actually borrowed the camera from the Desire giving it a slightly different look.

But what else can you think of, notification light at the top?

Wow real nice job photoshopping. Looks real. I think I like that trackball look over the optical pad more. I am just dying waiting and waiting in complete silence. I was getting worried too with no post here. I think the N1 threads are dying for the incredible threads.
