Connect Note 8 to Projector

[Android Central Question]

I have just recently switched from iPhone to Note 8. I have always connect to my projector using a HDMI to lightning port adaptor. I thought I would just buy a HDMI to USB Type C and connect. However my projector just says there is no source detected. I can immediately unplug it and plug in my wife’s iPhone and it works. I called BenQ, projector manufacturer, and they confirmed there is nothing in their equipment that would prevent an Android device from connecting. I then called Samsung to see if there is a setting I needed to change but their help is pretty pathetic.

Is this possible that the Note 8 is not able to connect to a projector?

are you trying to connect with usb and the usb to usc-c adapter that came with the phone?
I'm sure it's possible but I'm not near a projector

I bought a mirror cast device that plugs into the hdmi of the projector works great about 12 dollars
