This is the full message:

A full backup of all data to a connected desktop computer has been requested. Do you want to allow this to happen?

If you did not request the backup yourself, do not allow the operation to proceed.

If you wish to encrypt the full backup data, enter a password below:

DO NOT BACK UP BACK UP MY DATA

it's popping up constantly. the phone isn't (and has never been) physically connected to a desktop, I have not requested any backup, and have no PC with any software that would even try. I have checked my google security and no other PCs are in the login list to my google account, I can't think of anything.

The only reference to the message I can find online is here> https://android.googlesource.com/platform/frameworks/base/+/f76a50c/packages/BackupRestoreConfirmation/res/values/strings.xml

so is the message part of android? how do I disable it? and why am I seeing it in the first place? Where does this process typically back the data up to?

Thanks for any help or advice you guys can offer.

Thanks

Moved from the Marshmallow forum to the S7 forum, since this is more of a device-specific issue.

i have the same issue - on S7 edge with latest firmware

even on Guest WLAN - where it is the only IP / item in the WLAN net, it's poping up this message and claiming that a "desktop" is requesting the full backup - very annoying

maybe some malware ? unfortunately the message do NOT show any more information (requester IP / timestamp)
