Constantly losing data connection

OK, here's a new solution to try guys:

I bought two Optimus V phones this past Saturday and was having 3G drops when I activated both on Tuesday. The 3G would go out and no Internet on both phones. The next day I was going to return the phones. I took the battery cover off to take out the battery and noticed I did not remove the plastic at the bottom of the phones. It covers the silver bottom. Once removed, the 3G started working correctly.

Also, my bars stop fluctuating. It is now a consistent 3-4 bars not the 1 to 4 it was doing with the plastic.

I had the plastic strip there and just removed it. If this turns out to be the cause I'm going to die of laughter.

Sorry guys, not the battery sticker. Had mine off an all 3 of my phones and still 3g issues.

Guys. I dont know if it's VM service in NYC or not. But my internet connection on my phone the last 2 days have been very stable.

Try my script and let me know how it goes. I have it setup to run every 15 minutes. If you dont believe me I can post the log for the lat 2 days.
It was down 4 times and it recovered in less than a minute.

$25 bucks a month = WIN/WIN

I ran your script and it killed my connection, as in I was unable to even get the 3G icon to turn back on. Each time I had to go into Phone Info and toggle things there to get 3G to work.

Do I need to be rooted for this script to work?

Yes I believe you need to be rooted for the script to work.

I am pretty new with android.

VM service in NYC has been down from around 8pm until midnight. The script has been trying to restore the connection for the last 4 hours. At least you know it is not the phone.

:-(

Have you guys tried using the Sprint PRL? I haven't had any 3G issues since I switched to it. I have a script running that will restart my 3G/Wifi if it disconnects and log the event every 15 mins. I haven't had a 3G reset yet, but my Wifi has reset twice so I know the script is working. Maybe you should try it out.

Hi, can you elaborate on that a little? Is there a guide on how to make a switch to Sprint PRL? Thx.

my temp solution

hi,

i have found that in reprogramming my phone
lg optimus v
it solves the problem of no data.
but i cant do text messages.

summary
=======
on the phone keypad i type ##847446#
my 2 numbers are something like
mdn: xxx-yyy-zzzz (this corresponds to my cell phone #)
min: aaa-bbb-cccc (this is some other #, not my cell phone #)
(make sure to copy this # down!)

the voice and data and texting WAS working previously, but data and texting suddenly stopped.

rebooting (multiple times) didnt work

running the virgin mobile "activate" program / app (multiple times) didnt work.

so what i did was
==============
1) change the min # to match the mdn so that they BOTH match my phone #
2) the phone rebooted
3) voice works, data works, but texting does NOT

i did this once before, and then changed the min # back to what it was originally, and everything worked again!

weird.

so for now im not getting texts, and will try to get texts back sometime later tonight...

I broke down and changed to the sprint prl, and I think the thing that complicates the whole situation is that the data keeps going down for different regions of the country.

I've had data for maybe 2 hours in the last 2 days; the rest has been via wifi.

Was in Front Royal VA all day yesterday, great 3G connection (and was on it all afternoon). Now, FR ain't a heavy Sprint/VM 3G area, so no need to throttle the low-cost service during heavy use times. Still a problem NoVa. I will need emails all day today, will see.
