Contact not shown until I search

Sorry if this has been asked. I honestly didnt search hard to see if this has been asked.

When I open my PEOPLE contacts it doesnt show some people I know i have on there. when I search for their names it comes right up. Why dont they show on the director of people? What am I doing wrong?

Yes it has been covered numerous times. Check Menu>View in People and see what is checked. The Inc stores contacts as both Google, which syncs automatically with your desktop gMail contacts and Phone which is stored only on your device and needs a wired solution to sync. It is probably best to make sure all of your contacts are of one type or the other depending on your needs. If you check of Google and Phone in View my guess is your missing contacts will appear.

Make sure they aren't linked with another contact, that was my issue a couple times. The other contact was defaulted over them.

All my contacts are set as google. I tried the menu>view option and they still didnt show up. Also they are not linked with anything. hmmmm what could it be?

when you search they're there, but when you go to people they're not? my phone did that the other day but it went away. have you tried rebooting or anything? what steps have you taken to try to fix the issue?

correct, when I search they come up, but when I go to people they're not on there. I tried checking to make sure they're under Category google like all the other contacts, they are not linked with another contact or FB. I tried putting as friend group. I tried deleting and re-adding. So far it's only 2 contacts doing this that I see. I noticed this from day one, but kept forgetting to ask the forums. It's not bothering me much because i know they're in there as long as I search, but thought I'd try to fix the issue.

Use a computer and check your contacts via Gmail. Only contacts listed under "My Contacts" will show up in the People widget. Make sure the ones you are looking for are moved to My Contacts. Contacts will still show up in subgroups even if not in My Contacts, which would explain why you can find them via a search. If you looked in any sub group they are in, you'd see them listed there. Went though this a while back when my wife's contact wasn't showing up. Found it in All Contacts, moved it to My Contacts, and problem solved.

Draken, It worked!!!! i moved to " my contact " on my gmail account through a computer, synced my phone and now they show up under people. Thanks!!!
