Contacts Storage - "delete data" question

My contacts storage has ballooned to 14GB! And every time I delete any other data (i.e. I deleted 3GB of vid and photos last night) the contact DB seems to only grow and consume the available space.
woke up this AM with the low memory message AGAIN.
battery doctor shows this app has been working 43% of my battery!

Question: If I clear the Data on the Contacts Storage app, will it clear my Text Message data as well? I tried backing up my SMS/Text Data, but as I have NO memory left, it is to no avail.

Any advice?

Did you already try rebooting into recovery and clearing cache?

Cleared the contacts manager app data. Worked beautifully!
