CPSC Formal Recall Announced - Exchange / Return Your Phones

The side effect of doing everything possible to get all of the affected devices back is that it becomes VERY difficult to prove that you didn't receive notice of the recall.

I expect that they'll start blocking service on the affected IMEIs after next week to force those that haven't returned them...

CNET has reported Samsung on Thursday said new Note 7 replacement devices will be available in the US at most retail locations no later than September 21.

Just got off the phone with Samsung 21st all retail stores will have them in stock and they MUST exchange them even if you didnt buy it at that store directly!

No, I have until next Sunday to stay in that window, but then I have to pay restocking and tax again and maybe a down payment....sigh. Oh well.

92 report issues so far. Before it's all said and done probably around 200 total imo.

Is the Note 7 still going to have a stigma to it as the Note that caught fire?

For me the answer is no. I do not think there is a comparable phone to the n7. I use the spen all the time. Everyone says the s7 edge is the same phone. Even without the spen it isn't the same phone. People who truly love the note for everything it does will stick with it, people who just love phones and jump around a lot will move along to something else. I would think resale value would be hit big time for people who trade and sale their phones often.

Once they put up the IMEI checker, I will. I ordered my replacement this morning. If I have a bad one per the checker I will accept the replacement and switch over to my N4 until I get the N7 replacement. ONLY if the IMEI checker says I have a bad one.

I went into BestBuy Monday. They had no clue about how it was done. With the info I mined from here I had them preorder me a new one that will be help in my name. I received a notice saying it will be ready The 19th Store Pickup Items

There is no game. My comment was simply there were tons of "mine is fine" comments when obviously 97% aren't fine and could potentially explode / burst open.

For those who stuck it out, this is a great resolution. I returned mine for a refund (call it impatience or a dislike of uncertainty) and while my S7E is better in many respects, I want the note back. Any ideas on when they will be available for purchase?
