Crackling Bluetooth audio on my nexus 4 :(

I use a couple of jabra headphones and they work fine as well... The problem happens only with my car.. The difference is that jabras are 3.0 based while my car is running 2.1..I understand that typically it is backwards compatible.. But maybe 2.1 is too old?

I have this exact issue with my volkwsagen(2012 RCD-510), and my wifes volkswagen(2013 rcd-310)...crackly and staticy. I also experienced this on my 2013 Subaru Wrx with stock head unit...but it plays just fine with my samsung soundbar. So I have no idea what the issue is

Perhaps this is still an open issue... But when streaming audio from my nexus 4 through my car (Bluetooth 2.1 based ).. There is a lot of crackling... I have not been able to resolve this issue so far :-(

I've tried disabling wifi & gps but it does not matter. Interestingly i do not have this issue with my jabra stereo headset.

Normal calls in my car do not exhibit this problem either... Its only with music streaming.
Any ideas /solutions

Thanks

My Nexus 4 has horrible bluetooth audio quality compared to my HTC One as well. Its most likely a known issue with the Nexus 4. Yes you could use an AUX cable but even with that my Nexus 4 doesn't sound good.

Well, I don't have the Bluetooth module for my JVC head unit, so I really can't comment vis ? vis BT car audio, but I normally connect via standard AUX cable and I've never had any audio issues with my N4. It sounds great. Perhaps you have a bad unit, Jnorton2724?

Same issue here. Crackling on Bluetooth streaming via my stock stereo on a KIA Sportage.

I assumed it was the car, but it sounds like it's probably the phone.

I use a Bluetooth speaker all the time and it works fine.

Do any of you guys have the phone plugged into a car charger while doing your bluetooth testing?

I haven't done this in a while but if I recall correctly, I get crackling/static if I try playing music through the audio port while plugged into a car charger. If I disconnect the charger, the noise stops.

Nope... I rarely charge my phone in the car..

I have the exact same issue with BOTH my nexus 4 and 2013 nexus 7. I've tried it in two different cars with different after market stereos. Distortion/crackling is mainly when high notes are playing. My brother's nexus 4 has the same issue. I thought 4.3 would fix all the bluetooth problems....extremely disappointed. Why can't google get the basic stuff right?

Unfortunately, I think this is a known issue that is affecting people with the Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7. Some people are reporting that the problem started with the 4.2 upgrade.

Do you have an aux port in your car stereo? If you do, perhaps you can run a line from the headphone jack on your Nexus 4 to your car stereo's aux port. Otherwise you'll have to wait for a fix from Google.

Hey guys ihave the same issue in my 2013 hyundai elantra and tried iPhone5s galaxy note and now my Sony xperia and they all crackle on high frequencies when streaming music through Bluetooth. I tried downloading higher bitrate music and taking my car into a shop to get looked at and everything you could imagine and nothing worked then I downloaded the app poweramp on the Android market to play music and it fixed it and actually made my Music louder too. Let me know if this fixes your issues to.

I installed Isimple devices in both of my cars. On the 2005 Monte Carlo I installed the one that goes directly into the car's audio harness and allows for hands free calling along with streaming. I also installed a similar Isimple in my wife's 2005 Saab- 9-3 only this one connects between the incoming antenna and is a hardwired by pass. In the Monte I get crackling, sound distortion, and at times it almost sounds like a 45 lp played at 33 1/3 rpm. In the Saab it works fine. Also in the Monte the phone portion works fine. It is just when streaming audio via bluetooth. I can stream using my headphone jack through the system just fine though. I have an LG Optimus G Pro with Jellybean 4.1.2 installed and the both car audio devices run on 3.0 or higher. I know it has something to do with the phone, because my daughter has my old phone that is a HTC Vivid and bluetooth streaming works just fine. I am wondering if rooting my phone and going to the next version of Jellybean will fix the issue or if there is an update to bluetooth 4.0. I have learned it has something to do with the bitstream rates.
O:-)
